A great run (thumbs u

Two books that would look great together...

That #5 is, if anything, even nicer than the #4 and puts a decent Rockford to shame! I believe I am right in saying that it is also rated one of the very toughest issues to find. (worship)

Trying to determine the "true" and definitive color scheme for any issue of FH is problematic of course, but that #5 has got to fit that category.

Although the reds and yellows really pop on my Mile High #4, I suspect that the greyish blues are not quite as blue as they might be. I've noticed that very often, even when the reds are strong, the blues might not be, and if the colors do not present as intended, the compositional structure of the image is also thrown out of whack.

It's a lifelong search to find the true elephant!

I had the good fortune to be friends with the guy who originally bought all of the Mile High Fiction House from Chuck in the '70s. Even then looking through the runs there were various issues whose colors looked faded, muted or just kind of off. I guess it had to do with the inks used in printing. But when the colors are right there isn't much better than the early FH. Your Fight 4 is just a beautiful book and the colors are completely true. I dig it (thumbs u

An example of the Fiction House ink problems...

BTW, you should dig up the Fiction House thread (probably on page two or three).

It has a little rub at the top staple. 8.0 is probably about right. But it is one of those books that just looks really pretty. And the cover image is really cool in a retro sort of way.

An alternating triple play from Rangers...

Nice set! The early Rangers covers are way underrated IMO... would love to collect the early run someday.

+1. I've been tempted more than once but haven't taken the plunge yet. # 18 is the only one I have but almost bought a 10 on Sunday. The one I would most want is a 6. The guy who sold me Fight 31 (and refused to sell his 30) showed me his two copies of Rangers # 14 also ... but too $$ steep.

Nice books!!

And tough too. One of my customers has a page of art from that issue and I looked for a copy in any shape for a couple of years before finding a beater.

Cant quite manage the triple but this is the best I can do to squeeze in the #3! I think the first four issues are ultra scarce. Happy to have this #3 even with the restoration.
