Nope - can't find any info on those numbers... EDIT - Just found some numbers - 1st print run was 17,000

 

I haven't seen a 1st print copy sell for less than $26 on Fee-Bay this week - the word of mouth is starting to lead to big hype.

 

Where did you find your numbers? That 17K seems waaaaay high.

Chew was over $75 by now and has a smaller print run

 

Nope. Your timeline is way off. 2 weeks after release, Chew was about a $15 book. I'm sure I can go back and find my sales in paypal, but I was able to snatch up 11 copies up to 3 weeks after it came out and it was selling for $15-25 online.

 

It wasn't at $50 a week after release.

 

Chew started going higher once people were able to read the later printings.

 

Amazingly, this book is ahead of the Chew curve. Will it last? It depends on whether the next few issues are good (particularly #2).

We've had a Morning Glories #1 hit $40 here in the UK this week (Highest I've seen so far).

It's hitting a steady $25-$30 here. Now second prints are selling for around $10 none of my LCS got the second prints.

And as much as the cover of Morning Glories #1 2nd print makes me think of my highschool days the speculators need to do their homework. It does make me want to jump on a couple of 1st prints though

Hey guys,

 

giving you a heads up.

 

I heard the 1st print was 6k (unconfirmed)

I'll bet anything it was NOT 17,000. The book has decent legs just based on artwork alone. not to mention Nick Spencer is revamping Thunder Agents for DC. The covers are amazing.

Unless this book is optioned for a tv / movie series chew it ain't. BUT the cover artist does make this book special. It will be sought after.

 

I ordered a special edition for NYCC, its really blowing up. it's going to be a monster for the next 6 months.

 

grab a few. They will be 9.4-10.0

A little indept research puts the print run closer to the 6K mark. Which means that most shops only got one to two copies. My LCS only got one..and it was done in less than 60 seconds.

6K sounds right on the first print.

 

 

 

I'd bet the second print is around or below 3K.

 

I've gone to 8 stores now and can't find a copy of the second print.

And what about Larry's 1,000 print variant run? I like that cover BTW reserved a CGC 9.8

 

The third print cover (Coming Sept 15th along with issue #2) Will be a BW of the second print. It will have the digital pencil sketch/outline of the girl on the cover.

 

After that, expect the first print covers to disappear. Meaning, harder to get/find in NM/M

Had 2 offers already in my store today on the 1st print I picked up Friday. I listed it Sat afternoon I think. This book is really hot and for once I feel its justified. Very good read at least first issue.

3 Stores in my area no 2nd prints anywhere nobody ordered them. 2 stores here got 3 copies of 1st issue and one store got one copy or at least one was left.

 

Judge how other limited books have done before you jump in full boat. How is Invinicible 1 Larry's edition doing?

Invincible Larry's was a larger print run than 1,000 if I'm not mistaken and it was a convention edition with the same cover, excluding Larry's label. They sell about $90 for a CGC 9.8

 

Morning Glories is a different cover all together with the entire class wrapping around the cover. We can only hope that the cover stock will be a little thicker to preserve the 9.8s.
