Original Owner Silver Age/Bronze "Cereal Box" Collection of 6,000 books

This collection of approximately 6,000 books was recently purchased in New England from the brother of the original owner, who stored his books by taking a cereal box - cutting it in half "vertically" - and then putting the comics into a thin plastic bag (comic bags not widely available then I guess) and carefully sandwiching them in between the two halves of the box.

 

He would then encircle them with a piece of string which had each end tied to a rubber band - allowing for stretching..

 

 

The collection has almost every Marvel title from the period of 1963 or 64 up to about 1980. Also, almost every issue is there - including the keys. Most are in mid grade - but there are many in the 8.0 to 9.8 area.

Hulk #5 and 6 and then starting at #102 and up - including #181 in approximately 9.4 to 9.6 condition

Almost every key is included in this collection - including but not limited to Spider-man #121, 122, 129, Hulk 180, 181, 182, X-Men 94, Conan #1, Iron Man #1, Silver Surfer #1 and #4, First appearance of Swamp Thing in House of Secrets, 2 copies of Star Wars #1, 2 copies of Dr. Strange #1, Tomb of Dracula #1 and #10 and many more. Very early issues of the Marvel titles were not present as indicated above (i.e., Spiderman from around #1-15 etc... were not there)

 

If you have requests - just ask and I will try to get that one scanned and posted..etc. Not listing the Hulk 181 yet..might be auctioned.

 

Most books which are worth grading will be sent away to be graded...but some will not be - starting with this one (just because it was sitting in front of me!)
