Infinite Bronze Horror Thread 16 16

Picked up a cheap set of readers, Forbidden Tales Of The Dark mansion 5-7, 12-15. 5 has a nice gothic Nick Cardy cover, with Don Heck doing the interior art chores. 7 is a Kaluta cover (and  a lot of water damage) and 12 is another Cardy cover. I remember reading 7 & 12 when they first came out, so it should be a fun re-visit.

This is probably common knowledge, but just threw me for a loop. Red Circle Comics is actually Archie comics?   Just won an auction for some really beat-up archies, and I was scanning through the books of the auction I handt actually planned on winning and couldn't find one on an online price guide (I like to scan books, see if they're important or have and interesting creator).  Comic was Mad Comics 97.  I kept searching and filtering, and couldn't find it, based on publisher.  Turns out it's part of the Archie Madcomics run.  For 3 issues they go full-on bronze-age horrow.  Mind blown. 

Now I'm digging through my bronze red circle horror books, and my favorite, Red Circle Sorcery, is an Archie book?!  I look up the previous 2 issues, and issue 1 has Sabrina the Teenage Witch.  Super cool, but totally unexpected.  Archie jumped on the early 70's horror resurgence.  I never knew.  (Image is stock from the googles, don't feel like digging into the longboxes)

You mean Madhouse?

Only three issues of horror (continued/in between The Mad-House Glads or Archie’s Mad House) IIRC. 95, 96 & 97 with Gray Morrow covers. 95 is still my favorite!

Those Madhouse books are awesome!

I had never seen them before. Love Gray Morrow, so these are going on the buy list.

I found this this morning, and I'm still a little shocked. Hit a sale around the corner from my house about an hour after it opened and I found this on a table full of magazines for $10. I doubt he'll ever get in a real movie (the d-grade 2006 lionsgate one is not good, but the effects for Man Thing are decent) or probably even another ongoing series, although I did enjoy RL Steins run a couple years ago. Picked up a few other magazines too, they had some ToD and Monsters unleashed, but nothing else is this cool.

BTW, Archie’s Mad House did have its fingers in the Horror bowl long before those 3 issues of Madhouse. Albeit in a humorous way...

I love that cover. Their the ones you can never find, and when you do they`re beat. With Autumn fast approaching, we should throw some Bronze age Horror up here with a Halloween theme. I know it`s a little early but I think that would be pretty cool. And it`s really not that easy. Here`s a few to start.

Arrived today! This finishes off my Supernatural Thrillers run, and I upgraded my #6 at the same time. #7 seems to be one of the tougher to dig up (see what I did there?) issues and I waited a while for a high grade copy to show up. And voila!

Love the colors on this one! When I was a kid I had to stay overnight at the hospital to have my adenoids removed. My grandmother bought me this issue with a couple of others but this is the book I remember the most. Nothing like reading a great HOM issue when you’re all alone in a creepy hospital at night! Thanks Nana!

Another Wrightson cover to HOM 256. This one is pricey compared to the others in the dollar comics run. This looks much better than the ebay picture, so I was quite pleased to pick this one up cheaply.
