Never got a chance to post my own scan but I did pick this up on the boards recently - one of my favorite Wrightson covers.

One thing I find interesting, and should have expected it, but didn’t, is the rise in Elvira’s house of mystery. Hindsight is 20/20 and I kept a nice set around, but could have done better if I thought about it.

Am I alone in thinking unexpected 105 is the most undervalued bronze horror? Sure there is no first app until the mad mod witch a few issues later, but still a first with a nice skull cover and sells for nothing.

And mad mod becomes fashion thing in sandman, so there is that for 108

I think for most DC Bronze Age horror collectors Unexpected doesn't really join the ranks until the logo change and real horror focus beginning with issue #110.

I can agree with that, that’s the tone shift for sure. I can’t help but think though with more hindsight that the earlier issues won’t get some love.

Yeah, I have 1 nice set...the Stevens' cover is especially nice!

Bob Brown did that cover, but I love Unexpecteds with Cardy covers, especially. And who doesn't love a good Johnny Peril story...which starts in 106.

While I think house of mystery 174 is more important by far, unexpected’s “rebranding” did happen a month earlier

Thinking about it more, unex105 has more original material then hom174 too, but hom is still the better book. Unexpected was the second longest running after hom, ending 16 months before hom

Always liked the cover to 45 and don't think I've ever seen/owned the special. Nice.
