CGC Registry Additions - Fall 2011

This is the thread to request full set additions to the CGC Registry. (Requests for expansions can be made in the thread dedicated to those requests) There must be more than one book in the set or graded by CGC to create a set. You can add your request to this thread, just please only request a title once and check to make sure that the set does not already exist on the registry.

 

Below is the list of sets currently up for addition based upon previous requests.

As before, each set will be marked as DONE when they are finished. (or if I have any notes or questions, that will be noted instead).

Once I have completed this list I will create a new list of the requests that are featured in this thread, so please try to only request a title once and then be patient for the new thread (it helps to skim through and make sure another user hasn’t requested it already, too)…thanks!

So for all the sets (foreigns) that didn't "win" as far as votes go, will those be added to the next list?

 

We'll see how much "closer" the custom sets are at that point, but otherwise it is possible they would be added at that time.

I know this isn't the thread for this, but would the custom sets be competitive in any way? The reason I requested that the foreign sets be added was in the spirit of competition with other users who collect those books. If the custom sets aren't competitive in some way or another, that would defeat that purpose.

No, the custom sets would not be competitive in any way (just like the coin ones) but you could create any set you want and then other users could copy your "set" structure with a simple click so that they could create sets of the same issues and "compete" with you in an unscored and more collector-oriented (less point-oriented) manner. We really prefer to keep sets as runs of titles or comics that have a similar theme, but have been branching out to specific requests due to the demand. However if a specific "vanity" or "custom" set for the competitive area is not popular then it similarly defeats the time and effort in creating it. Also, the more "vanity" sets that exist will cause those who are setting the timeline on this project to look at the registry and say "well, they already have these sets created so what purpose would the custom sets be to users and why should we spend the money on it at this time?" I understand that you really want to have foreign sets, but you could use the current issue sets, only list the foreign editions and then title the set "Liam's Amazing Foreign Variants!!" or something to draw attention to the fact that it is only foreign books instead of having a whole separate set created for this purpose.

Gemma, just a quick addition...

 

For the Die Spinne set to be added, could you please include all the Die Spinne issues currently graded? By that, I mean combine the 1974, 1979, 1980, and 1986 series all together in one set as opposed to separating them.

 

They are each missing some issues, so the ideal would be whatever is graded under the Die Spinne title should be put together.

I had this request in another thread, but I'm putting it here to see if it can gain some steam:

 

Is there any chance for a "Captain America Complete" set? Ideally it would have all the volumes of Captain America so the numbering could go to #100 through #600 and continue onward. It would be a way to have all the various Cap books from different volumes fall under one larger set.

 

I'd be interested to know if such a set is possible.
