Perhaps the greatest of the WWII-era comic book cover artists, Alex Schomburg's talents extended far beyond pencil and india ink. He was also a skilled painter and one of the pioneers in the use of the airbrush. Schomburg produced numerous cover images for publications outside of the comic book industry. He had a longstanding relationship with Radio Craft magazine (published by Science Fiction progenitor Hugo Gernsback) and during WWII, produced several stunning covers for that magazine detailing new war technologies. Soldiers manning gun directors blast away at Nazi planes in this fine 1944 painting. Excellent detailing throughout both the figures and the machinery. Executed on heavy illustration board, the image area measures approximately 16" x 22". Signed by Schomburg at the lower center. Asking $5000

Cavewoman : Prehistoric Pin-ups #5 splash page by Budd Root. Budd captured the essence of Frankenstein perfectly as he whisks away Meriem. This piece also has a completely different penciled prelim of Meriem laying across Frankenstein's lap. EXTRA BONUS: This piece also has a Budd Root prelim on the back with Frankenstein & Meriem in a completely different pose! VERY NICE! Asking $1275

ncredible page inked by one of the best 60's artists, Matt Fox. I could never figure out why Marvel did not use his talent on any of the covers. Can you imagine his Basil Wolverton style of art on one of the Marvel Superheroes? According to comics.org, JIM #102 was the last book Matt Fox ever did, and this is the last page of that story. His art is VERY HARD to come by! Asking $1200

This hyperdetailed painting is 24" by 17" The detail is amazing. There is an homage to Kirby on the right hand edge if you look carefully. "JK" with a crown. This piece comes with a pencil prelim $2500
