C2E2 + April 13-15, 2012 + McCormick Place Chicago

Quick question for you Chicagoans?? What is the population of the City of Chicago as opposed to the suburban areas of Chicago??

Chicago proper is 2.7M and Chicagoland/Chicago Metro area (city + surrounding suburbs) is over 9.8M

Ok, next question smarty pants. How accessible is the city of Chicago from the suburbs?? Trains, Buses, Car travel (i know traffic stinks so you might want to leave the car part out.)

It's very accessible by rail, as thousands use Metra (rail from the suburbs) to commute into the city daily. There's the Pace buses from the suburbs to bring people into the city

I hate public transportation and avoid it if at all possible. I also don't think it would be a lot of fun to carry home a bunch of stuff on the train after walking around the con floor all day  I like C2E2 and the venue is nice, but parking sucks and getting there is a PITA.

While I think Reed Chicago is a better show, because it's simply better produced and more professionally run, I think mschmidt's take is an extremely thorough and well thought analysis and raises a number of very thoughtful insights on things I don't necessarily consider in evaluating a show.

For whatever reason, I find Wizard Chicago more fun each year, but walk away feeling like Reed Chicago is better run.

C2E2 is in a poor location. It's inconvenient to and for anything and everyone.

Everything should be in Rosemont. That Rivers Casino is so frickin' awesome. <3

It lacks a cardroom. Therefore, it is wholly inadequate.

The two W-2G's i got last year say you are full of it.

Next time feel free to visit my hotel room. I will act as the house to your blackjack or craps bets and I will ply you with drinks. My money will be on me to win.

There's a good place just south on Stoney Island that has good rib-tips. You just need a Kevlar vest once the sun sets.

I drove in coming from the south and only had to make I believe 2 turns to get to the convention parking Call me crazy but it seemed pretty accessible to me. Even driving to and from the hotel wasn't that bad (the worst is paying for parking). Just my 2 cents though.

If you left early each day that was probably the case. Dealers that had to tear down their wall books and secure their tables had a nightmare getting out of the parking garage each evening.

Breakdown was a cluster. I gave up on the ridiculous loading system they came up with, with trips to the parking office to get a dock pass, then waiting in a line, then waiting in another line and just used my hand truck to drag the boxes across the pedestrian bridge to where I parked in lot A. A pain for sure, but less of a pain than doing it the way the show suggested.

That's a shame. After hearing from a few dealers how setup went much better this year, I had high hopes for you guys that the exit process would be just as smooth.

You have a blackjack and craps table in your hotel room?

I got piped in my regular game last night. Was down about $200. Popped the big blind for a 5x bet holding KK. He called a $25 bet holding 23 suited. Flop came 456. I paid him off, gave the table the finger and left.
