JOSH GATES TO APPEAR AT

CHICAGO COMIC AND ENTERTAINMENT EXPO (C2E2)

Star of SyFy’s Destination Truth is First Entertainment Guest Announced for Annual Midwest Pop Culture Convention

Norwalk, CT, January 11, 2012: Organizers of the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) have today announced that Josh Gates will appear at the annual pop culture convention where he will be the focus of a high profile panel and will also do a signing. Known as the “face of SyFy”, Gates is well-recognized as the host of the hit travel-adventure series, Destination Truth, a huge sensation which has garnered considerable attention and publicity, including an interview for Gates on The Today Show. Gates’ reputation as a pre-eminent Monster Hunter was firmly established when, on the season premiere of season two of Destination Truth, he and his team uncovered a series of footprints high in the Himalayas in search of evidence of the Yeti. Josh also hosts SyFy’s Ghost Hunters Halloween Live and other special events for the channel throughout the year and he has written Destination Truth: Memoirs of a Monster Hunter which was published by Gallery Books in October, 2011.

The Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo will take place April 13 – 15, 2012 in the North Building at the McCormick Place Convention Center.

Convention officials note that one of their main programming objectives is to provide a diverse range of panels by featuring guests from many walks of life with varied backgrounds, interests and accomplishments. “We look for guests who contribute to the growth and evolution of pop culture in its many forms,” notes Lance Fensterman, Group Vice President for ReedPOP and Show Manager for C2E2. “Josh Gates is a great example of someone from the entertainment world who also has a huge following in the pop culture arena. We are pleased and grateful that he has agreed to come to our show and I know our fans will be very eager to meet him.”

C2E2 programming officials have also announced (12/14/11) that comic legend Joe Kubert will be a “Spotlight” Guest at this year’s convention. It will be Mr. Kubert’s first appearance at C2E2. More guest announcements will be made in the coming months. For further information about C2E2 and for purchasing tickets please visit www.C2E2.com.

show isn't very far away. People make travel arrangements based on guests and closer you get the more it costs. I"m not coming for Josh Gates.

Agreed. I considered C2E2 this year, but its geeting tight with regard to booking travel and hotel so I am opting to go to the Boston show the following week. Guest list is infinitely better, with more to come. Sorry, C2E2 you lost me as an attendee by waiting too long to confirm your guest list.

I totally understand your frustration and agree that they should have already posted a lot more guests. If I weren't driving to the show, I wouldn't even consider this one as Boston already has an incredible line up posted. Heck, even Baltimore in September is already promoting a great initial line up!

I'm not sure if anyone else has this problem but every time I try to access the page for C2E2 it seems to take forever to load. Does anyone else have this problem?

Maybe its all the comment stuff at the bottom.

Both windows, mac, ie and mozilla. Its slow on all. As well as two different internet connections.

Page loads fine for me, less than 2 -3 seconds.. I am using Safari on lion OS. If you are using windows, make sure you have Java 7.0 not 6.30 " Its Beta " and Adobe Flash 11.01 installed.. seems to help windows load the C2E2 website faster.. Not sure what to tell you if the Mac has an issue other than Kill all your programs and restart the Mac.

You could run a Tracert test to the C2E2 website IP and determine if the route has to many Hops or if you are losing packets.

Have you also tested the C2E2 website with Chrome?

Oh and if the website is slow now with only 11 guests it will be horrid for you when they actually have a reasonable amount of guests on the list.

Best of luck

It is unfathomable to me that this show doesn't have more guests. I am a huge C2E2 supporter. C2E2 2010 was one of, if not the best show I've ever been to. I want Reed to have kick@ss shows, but this one is way too slow to develop.

You are 100% right. 2010 was one of the best ever and I totally agree with your comments about the 2012 show! I had hoped to be singing the praises of how incredible 2012 looked by now instead of lamenting the lack of guests...

You can take it 1 of 2 ways. Either they'll probably come through again. Or the list this year will be less than last year's. Either way, this year and last were pretty short notice.
