Compare OAAW 11 to the Two Fisted Tales and you see a huge influence in the faces as well.  What's interesting is that that style wasn't typical of Novick.  I don't know if it was intentional, or if he was just trying to get the lighting correct.

I think Novick wanted to change his style and, at that point, Kurtzman's look was different and compelling so he played with it.  That overt imitation didn't last long as he continued to experiment before landing on the approach he took from mid-50s on.
