So with how hot uf 4 is going for right now and i assume will continue to rise in price, what do you think is a better buy?  Im looking at buying a 1st print in cgc 9.8 condition for $1000 or buy the 1st print connecting variant in cgc 9.6 for $3000?  Which would be the better buy and possibly sell IF i meed the funds in the future?

I couldn’t do that.  Can’t bring myself to spend that much on moderns when I  could get some classic silver Bronze Age first appearances instead. You could get the first Wolverine for that kind coin in high grade. I’m talking about IH180. Just me though.

I wouldn't personally be taking advice on a $1,000 investment from random people on the internet. If you need to be convinced of something, it's probably not right for you. To each their own though.

Good point but i wasnt meaning it as an investment.  I meant if you had to choose 1 as you want 1 book of miles first app in hogh grade, and which 1 of the various printings.  I cant afford to buy all the various printings in high grade  for my collection, so i prefer the 1 that will fill my needs and has the pontential to hold its value IF say I lose my job come late 2020 or so forth.  That way if i have to sell it, i get back most if not all the money i have into the book.

If I were to pick which cover to get I’d opt for the newsstand edition of UF4. Much rarer than the regular variant cover.

Yeah. The current period in the hobby reminds me of the early 90s action before the crash. Back then, chromium or different cover color = :flipbait:

That post tells me you're buying beyond your means.  Make sure you're prepared before committing money you dont have to funny books.

Its not that im buying beyond my means but with how things are due to the coronavirus,  you can have no job come tomorrow.  So i usually like to plan ahead accordingly.  Granted i do have a savings to fall back on if that happens but at some point, if the economy is garbage and i cant find another job id have to liquidate my belongings to survive.  That is what i meant.

Yeah you don’t want to purchase these Modern books at high prices on eBay. Like this which I quickly bought for $22 including shipping. I bought  a few other sets of books as well. Guy didn’t know what he had but he did realize before shipping them and canceled them & refunded me. I included all the pics for the buildup. I will add him to the block list thread as well. So there’s deals to be had on eBay. You just have to be persistent and lucky. And find a seller who honors sales regardless.

Paying $1000 for a modern book is just stupid.

I wouldn't be buying any of these hot books at the moment unless you can get them for cover price.

Excellent advice. And I will pay you triple when you find them for cover. You would be “stupid” to not want to triple your investment.

He had a set of new X-men including all the firsts in that series all real nice and minty that sold as well. He ended up taking down all his comic listings after canceling my orders. Research I imagine but I was pretty bummed out. A NM98 sold on eBay on 6/9 for like $40. So this happens pretty regular. I wish he would’ve just shipped em. I think he was tipped off by another potential buyer who missed out on it. Or maybe a friend. Or maybe the speed in which it sold.

Right now everything is selling. I would sell a few books a week in the summer usually. Due to no conventions and covid I am selling 3 to 5 books
a night+ and big ticket books for me. Its actually preventing me now from going out to get more inventory.

I was 3 flat rates away from totally running out until my supplies showed up.

E-bay's cancellation policy needs to change.

Sellers are abusing it with zero repercussions.
