Here's the first appearance of Kamala from Captain Marvel #14.

It's this one panel. I guess everyone can make their own decision on whether or not this is significant enough to merit value.

Cameo then?

I'm going with this one. Low print, hard to find (only two copy's left on feebay) Selling at 2-3x the 1st print. With a full cover appearance a month before Ms Marvel #1. Seems like the top choice too me. 2c

Cheers!

Good to know. I had decided to start collecting Ms/Captain Marvel books before the movie nws broke, so when it did I figured it was best to see what I could grab when I got my new books that Wednesday. They didn't have the first print of this book but I did get the second print.

I really hope you're joking. Of course it merits value. I've already given the evidence that no one can dispute. Straight from the writer of the book. The artist has said it as well that it is her 1st appearance.

Its not an arm (superman #17 - doomsday), its not a televison screen (Jimmy Olsen #134 - Darkseid) or a preview.

That doesn't mean everyone is going to see it as valuable, or as the book to get.

It's a one panel shot, with no dialogue. If the writer didn't point it out, nobody would know who the hell it is. She looks like a 30 year old woman there, not a teenager.

Comics are full of one panel appearances more significant than this one, that don't become the primary book that the market chooses as its first appearance. Some people favor the first time a character is ever published on paper. Some people favor their first significant appearance in a book. Everyone has their preference for what they are going to collect. The point of this was never to debate what her first appearance is, and I never put up any kind of debate on the matter. It was to post the panel in question, and let people decide whether or not its enough for them to spend ~$25 on a copy if they don't know what they're getting for their money.

And while we're on topic, Ms Marvel seems to be selling for around $25-30 right now. There you go.

Here's a fun fact: in the first appearance of Carol Danvers in Marvel Super-Heroes #13, she only appears on 2 pages, in 5 panels, and doesn't say all that much.

Which, of course, is why the whole first appearance thing is so incredibly stoopid. :sumo:lol

Remember though, we have to apply the Alpha Flight 17 test to Captain Marvel and Captain Marvel 17 for the first appearance of Kamala Khan. So ask yourselves, "Is this the first appearance in a work by her creative team?" The answer is no, so those are not her first appearances. :roflmao:

As for speculation , #14 is a cameo # 17 1st print is second cameo BUT..

Captain Marvel #17 2cond print is The first appearance of Kamila khan as Ms Marvel and there is no arguing a first appearance/cover appearance. This book is also before the point one issue.

The way I see it when a character is 1st introduced it is the 1st appearance. That is what 1st appearance means.... Appeared for the 1st time. Whoever started this cameo nonsense should be fired. I feel the reason the market decides on what is 1st app., is who has the many copies of that book who wants that specific issue to be the 1st appearance to profit from.

The word cameo should be changed to "1st introduced".

Cameo / first appearances of a character is what is printed on the book, it has nothing to do with hype . The market will decide what ever it feels like. But this first appearance took some reading and some research and still could not be right . As goofy as it seems Kamila khans first appearance as Ms Marvel is on the cover of the 2 cond print to Captain marvel #17

Any other speculation or info would be appreciated. I would like to know what here first appearance as ms marvel is, my 9 year old daughter loves her.

There's one other example that falls into this category that I'm *really* surprised we haven't seen argued here. But I'm not going to say what it is, because I don't want to set off the crazy.

Did you even read what I wrote.

Captain Marvel #14 is the 1st appearance of Kamala Khan.

Captain Marvel #17 is the 1st appearance of Kamala Khan as the new Ms. Marvel.

Kamala Khan is just a 16 year old girl in Captain Marvel #14. That's it. Kamala Khan becoimes the new Ms. Marvel in Captain Marvel #17. I will the collectors decide which print is more significant for Captain Marvel #17. There is no cameos.

If that's all that she appears in #14 it would be a cameo. 1 panel and unnamed.
