I don't think AOL ever used the large floppies. I used them to save games for the Commodore 64

I still have a shoe box of 5 1/4 floppies full of games for the Commodore 64. Somewhere in my mother's storage room is my C64. I wonder if they still work? Probably have not turned it on for 28 years? I can't bear to toss them for some reason. Historical I guess.

I'm old enough where there weren't any computers in my high school except two Apple II+ systems set aside for TAG projects.

Both my younger brothers, though, took advantage of computer lab (just two years after I graduated, to show how fast things were moving) by duplicating scads of C64 games on school equipment and selling them for $5 each. They knew it was piracy but didn't really care because it paid better than their part-time jobs at the time. The class was so rudimentary they completed everything at their own pace in the first week, leaving them lots of spare time.

Montezuma's Revenge, if I remember right, was their top seller.

I just hoarded my games, traded copies, never sold. That would be unethical! There was so much c64 piracy that the software developers in the USA just stopped making c64 versions. By 1984/5 most of the games were coming from Europe where the c64 was very popular (and very few could afford an apple or IBM)

Eh, we weren't so ethical. I had two other friends with C64's, and one of them had the Ball Brothers game copying software (at least I think that was who made it) so if one of us bought a game, ALL of us got the game. Man, the time I wasted on those SSi Gold Box AD&D games! Pools of Radiance! Buck Rogers! I also adored the Alien and Aliens games, and several other weird ones like the Rocky Horror Show game. Good times growing up.

I mainly downloaded off pirate BBSes. Ran one myself for a little while. Traded disks with European "cracking crews."

To clarify, this was nearly 35 years ago and I was 12.

You couldn't get me out of the bathroom for that long to copy software when I was 12.

Do you know how long it took to download a decent game on a 300 baud or even 1200 baud modem? Believe me, I had a lot of time on my "hands." Interesting, around then I lost interest in comics.

OK, maybe this was posted a couple of months ago, but really? With a tear??

I know this was not a cheap book to start with, but when did it hit this stratosphere with 9.8 slabs approaching $1000?

Quite awhile ago.  The first batch of show/movie news bumped the #1 up to the $850 - $900 level and its been bumping around that price for a couple years.  I personally think this is a good buy at $800 since I can see it becoming a $1,500 book if a show is a big hit.  Not that many CGc 9.8 #1s floatinga round.

Amazing Fantasy #1 2004 1st Arana has been creeping up in price lately I'm assuming because of the "Into the Spiderverse" movie. I can see in my mind retrospectively all of the copies I've left in the dollar bins I've visited.

I would keep an eye on Daredevil 610 (1st app. of Vigil) and Domino #8( Morbius appearance) which both sold out at my LCS. Good pick ups at cover price if you can find them.

That brought back memories.  Trying to download nudie pictures one line at a time is a tough way to go when you are a teen.

What some call memories others call childhood trauma. lol

Legit, I remember being a kid on dial up boards thinking I was super stealthy downloading photos of naked celebs on a Commador 64.  Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I never did that. The graphics were too horrible. My 17 year old brother had his own stash of real porn to dip into.

And the Spawn #185 was shilled up multiple times. It is a valuable book, but hard to determine the real value now.

But not much interest for relatively early "Y" issues beyond 1 and 2, etc. When WD became a $900-$1000 book so many other issues got hot and I think that was even before the show . Heck, the whole run, but I guess that is almost unique, although Preacher books from 2 - 15 or so had a little momentum for a bit, all of the first Deadpool regular series. But I guess everything has its own trajectory.
