It's a great cover, is it just the Iron man that's on a different board and pasted onto the cover?? It's hard to tell.

I can't tell, but that is not in the Heritage description. The description does point out, however, that the two Ditko panels on the bottom are stats.

I will definitely be looking at it in person during the Heritage previews in NYC (not to buy, just to enjoy). I will let you all know!

Looking at the big scan more, I would definitely want to see it in person before bidding. It is hard to tell what is a stat and what isn't.

It will be interesting to see how it does. I heard that it was privately shopped for 150K before being consigned to Heritage.

My Guess, looking at a large scan, is that Romita did pencils and inks on Hulk, Spidey, Giant man, Cap, and Hawkeye. I think Jim Mooney added the Iron Man, wasp, and Thor. That Thor pose looks like a Mooney composition with Mooney inks to me.

 

Lovely cover though. Should do well.

I asked Heritage for a little more clarity on the cover.

 

Q: You clearly state that the Ditko images are stats. Are there other stats on the

cover? Are all the characters original drawings?

 

A: All the other art images (not counting the type and logo items) are original.

 

 

Hope this is useful. The nice thing about Heritage is that for their 40% or so of the total auction price, they do give good service.
