The Tuscany is nicer than Alexis Park. I don't know if Terribles up the street

has any convention space but definitely is just as nice. If this is being advertised

as some type of big time convention many attendees are going to be very

disappointed.

Although I understand your doubts, please be patient as more details as to what is being offered is posted in the next few weeks.

I hope that my 1st set of guest announcements will not disappoint you.

Oh you know you want to go. I know I'm going! With Adam not making the Big Wow show this will be the only non-SDCC chance on the West Coast (vicinity) to see him and his Before Watchmen stuff should be out by then. Finch, JG, Mark Brooks, Mignola, Benitez, and more names to come?!?! Oh yeah, VERY excited.

The Hard Rock Hotel has convention space and is nicer than any of those places. (Shameless plug)

Alexis Park has greatly improved their venue to an all suite resort and is a family friendly venue where parents can confidently take their kids without exposing them to the risque atmosphere of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino filled with cigarette smoke, drinking, gambling and an adult vibe. Plus, the non-convention going hip judgmental crowd of the HRH probably makes for an uncomfortable setting as they potentially stare at, ridicule, harass or even bully the nerd/geek crowd doesn't seem all too welcoming.

Not to be a buzz kill for those adults who enjoy some or all of the vices of Sin City of course, keep in mind Alexis Park is located across the street from the Hard Rock as well as walking distance to the main Las Vegas strip. So, I don't think the location really is an issue in any limiting way against Alexis Park, if anything it provides all of the benefits and then some. So,what happens in Vegas can still stay in Vegas from either venue.

The main point being, Alexis Park is a more than adequate venue for everyone, locals and visitors alike, and for a comic book convention, a suitable venue for everyone.

In comparing the guest lists... Hmmm... Grant Morrison, a comic book writer and 9 yet to be named creators at the Hard Rock as opposed to Adam Hughes, David Finch, Mark Brooks, Ale Garza, Joe Benitez, Mike Mignola, JG Jones, Dean Yeagle, Nei Ruffino, and more yet to be named creators at Alexis Park???

From that comparison, I think I'd rather go to Alexis Park and get the chance at an opportunity to get some commissions and sketches as well as signatures by so many great artists in that one stop shopping all-star line-up environment, than go to the Hard Rock and get a signature from a writer who may scribble a word bubble caption. Also, from that perspective, I speculate most fans, especially the kids, would rather meet the artist who draws Batman (David Finch) over the guy who just writes the stories.

Second point being, as a potential attendee considering each event, it's less about the location and venue and more about the guest list, exhibitors, and vendors.

As the saying goes "The clothes do not make the man", so in this case one may also continue that logic with "nor does a venue make for a convention."

Ultimately in celebration of what Rodney King said 20 years ago... "Can we all just get along?"

I will be going to this event as well. Its a great event to take the kids. When events like this come to the area its always good, since there is a lack of events we can take the little ones too .

The only thing i am wondering is if CGC would allow double sigs from both events this whole weekend. Such as a AG Jones/Grant Morrison (Final Crisis). Yes they are at 2 different events, but they are across the street from each other.

Wasn't complainign about the location. Alexis Park has a nice facility. It was just a shameless plug. Besides, summer weekends. at the Hard Rock, would never work for a convention of this type. They have the pool party there and not only would it be crowded, it would not be age appropriate with the people that the pool party attracts. Maybe later in the year when tth pool is closed, but, not during the summer.
