Hey everyone,

 

I would like to get some thoughts about something Greedo and I were talking about, and has been mentioned in some threads before.

 

Right now the rules prohibit multiple book sketches from being entered. Some of us have a sketch that spans 2-5 books which some characters on one and some on others and the rules are set up in such a way that cuts out the art if it's on more then one book.

 

I agree with this. The example that Greedo and I talked about was Eton's Xmen books and Magneto. If we did a best Magneto sketch, should Eton be allowed to Enter all of his books in the Magneto contest? Where would you limit something like this? Because of that, the Magneto book has to stand on it's own without the other books to support it.

 

The solution to that has been to later on do a " Best Of " multiple books category. Which is fine, but I was thinking about doing it a little bit differently. Why not on Team books allow someone to enter a multiple book entry? When you look at something like Avengers or Xmen, it is really hard to fit a large team of 3+ onto one cover without losing something. This is why some of us have it done on multiple books, similar to the way a wraparound is used for more cover space. For team books only, why not allow multiple books? I think Adonis's Jose Jaro Avengers should be able to compete in the Best Avengers sketch.

 

Obviously if it was three separate books put next to each other, then that's different but if its the same piece or art, why not?

 

Thoughts? Vote-worthy to see what everyone thinks?

Just looking for a rule clarification. Are CGC SS Sketches on paper eligible or just CGC SS Sketch Covers? I know there are artists who don't like/won't work on sketch covers so including CGC SS Sketches on paper makes perfect sense to me. After all it still is CGC SS.

Rule is currently sketch covers only.

 

I personaly prefer it this way.

 

But this is a board award, so enough people want to change it, we can take a vote on it.

I do think that it would be cool to have a Best of the Best Non-Cover award. For the best CGC none cover sketch.

Hello everyone.

 

I am kinda new here and the "Best of the Best Sketches" is a great idea.

 

I love seing all the peoples showing their sketches and Greedo is doing a terrific jobs.

 

The member Starpc have done exactly what I wanted to do, found all the Sketches thread links and place it in one post, good job.

 

I got a suggestion for you Greedo; why not simply "update" the first post of this thread instead of posting each time new winners or update CGC SS photo? This thread would be better, more clear and less painful to read on my android phone ;-)

 

Also you could place the link of the thread for each Sketches so that we can all see the others sketches in competition. Also why not ask the winner of the sketches to place the link of the thread on the Sketches logo.

 

Now I got one question concerning the rules. If I got a sketches graded by CGC but not SS, can I participate? I mean I got one but CGC was not there to authentify, so I sent it anyway and got a green label. I even take many photos of the artist while making the sketch

 

Here where I live in Québec, we only got the Montreal Comic Con, and I think we are not yet a big enough con to got CGC staff at the convention. We got lucky last year because Stan Lee was there along Paradise Comic that were following him for the authentification.

 

Also I notice that the images of the CGC SS comics are not always showing, like the ones of Par2ch, the photobucket link is not working??? Well maybe I can help here, in my spare time I built website and I got a lots of space for data/files on my personal server. I could create a folder and place all the CGC photo for peoples to look and even make a FTP account for them to upload. Anyway contact me Greedo if you are interrested, this was just an idea
