Signature Series trade weekend discussion

Buncha Negative Nancies around here. :sumo:

We've been putting this off for months always citing that there's a show going on during that particular weekend. If you're going to a con, set up your trade post before you leave and monitor PM's in the evenings. If you can't make it, catch the next trade weekend.

You can always to find a reason NOT to do something... :preach:

Why not just have an ongoing SS trade thread and people can just close/update it when needed.

They have one. It's stickied.

We try to do this for the same reason the VCC works...you can always run a sales thread, but the VCC generates a lot more participation from those who wouldn't otherwise participate.

For now, I'll still suggest August 13-14. If there are any huge objections, we can change it, but let's try to get something going. It's been far too long since the last one.

Someone else asked me via PM about the "rules". I'll paste my response below:

Hello,

We've had this several times a year for the past few years and it's a lot of fun.

Basically, you reserve a spot in the "Books go here" thread. Whenever you get a chance, post pictures of any Signature Series slabs that you have that are available for trade. Only post once in the "Books go here" thread and you can edit it as you go. Any additional discussion should go on in the separate "Discussion" thread. Post there as many times as you like. That's where you can ask questions, talk about books that catch your eye, or just general banter.

It's best to use clickable thumbnail images of your books instead of full size pictures just to keep the thread manageable.

Three things you can do that are completely optional:

1) In your "Books go here" post, include a general list of things you collect. Silver Age, Modern age, mainstream, indie, certain creators, sketches, etc. Give people an idea of what you're looking for.

2) In your "Books go here" post, include a list of books that other people have listed that you have interest in. Sometimes people won't reach out thinking they have nothing the other person wants. This can often get people to reach out to you with offers.

3) Some people list ballpark prices on their books to give people an approximate value of what they feel their books are worth. It's not always easy to gauge how a person values their own book. This takes away some of the guesswork and helps eliminate lowballs. This trade weekend isn't like the for sale forum here. You don't have to list a price that you have to sell a book for. You don't need to list any prices at all if you don't want to.

Again, these 3 things are optional.

Generally, people foot their own bill for shipping unless otherwise specified in the trade agreement. Also, plan on shipping quickly. If you don't think you can have your book(s) shipped by Tuesday, be sure to tell the other person when you expect to ship the book.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Alright, the trade weekend is officially here. Let's fill out some of those "reserved" spots and let's get things rolling.
