Deathstroke Creator Marv Wolfman Weighs In On A Potential Spinoff Starring Manu Bennett

Shortly after the Arrow season 5 finale, we wrote about how both Manu Bennett's performance and the writing for the character of Slade Wilson/Deathstroke had made us want a Deathstroke spinoff. Other fans, news sites, and the like have been chiming in with similar comments, and Bennett has been retweeting many of them, encouraging fans who want to see more of his take on Slade to reach out to executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and other potential players like Warner Bros. Television, DC Entertainment, and Netflix.

"I think the most important person to get behind any Deathstroke original series is Marv Wolfman, who created the character," Bennett tweeted a short time ago. A few minutes later, Wolfman responded.

"Much appreciated, Manu," tweeted the writer of The New Teen Titans and Crisis on Infinite Earths. "I love Deathstroke and I was overjoyed to see your return and would love to see you do more."

The comment is just shy of an endorsement of a Deathstroke spinoff, but it's possible that Wolfman is playing it cool, either because he knows about plans or because as someone who still regularly works for DC it's unwise to be seen as too vocal about Warner Bros. corporate strategy.

As has been posted before, new night for Arrow.

Stephen Amell Reveals Arrow Season 6 Premiere Date

Quote

Amell took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon, announcing that the series would return for its sixth season on October 12th at 9 pm.

This is a bit of a departure for what fans are used to, as Arrow has always been Wednesday nights. The move to Thursdays is part of a change to the entire CW schedule.

Amell also used the tweet to joke about the freedoms that the show could enjoy, now that it was moved to an hour later. He made the comment that the 9 pm time could help them get "at least one bare bum shown on tv."

Stephen Amell Confirms Deathstroke's Arrow Season 6 Return

Quote

Amell is currently appearing at Heroes and Villains Fan Fest, where he was asked if about his longtime nemesis who ended up being an ally this season. Amell said, "Manu Bennett is back to being a part of the show, and we will see him several times".

That's great news for Season 6, which will see major changes in not only Oliver's personal life but also Team Arrow. Granted fans don't even yet know who is part of Team Arrow next season, as the explosion seen in the finale surely took some characters out of the running.

Bleeding Cool has come across a new casting announcement for Arrow and it points to a villain from The New 52 being the big bad.

While DC's initial take on Green Arrow was widely considered a flop, Jeff Lemire later rebooted the series and introduced us to a wealth of new characters. Among them was the sinister Richard Dragon.

"[Ricardo Diaz] Male, 30s-40s, Diverse. Hardened ex-son recently released from prison for crimes he didn’t commit. Ricardo uses his freedom and 25 million dollars in settlement money to establish control over Star City’s criminal underworld. Arrow May Bring Back The Huntress In Season 6

In an interview with CBR, Marc Guggenheim addressed the possibility of Helena Bertinelli/Huntress (Jessica De Gouw) returning in season 6. As Guggenheim explained, nothing is set in stone, but there is an opportunity for her to make a return appearance in The CW series.

"I want to say, 'Absolutely.'" Guggenheim revealed. "Jessica De Gouw has expressed an absolute willingness to come back. Jessica’s a favorite actor of mine, and the Huntress is a favorite character of mine. I want to make it happen in Season 6. We’ve got some plans for the later half of the year that I think she will fit into really well, so we’ll see."

Huntress has been missing from the show's proceedings since the Season 2 episode 'Birds of Prey', which placed both Sara Lance/The Canary (Caity Lotz) and Laurel Lance/Black Canary (Katie Cassidy) in her crosshairs. The character has since been incarcerated, meaning a potential comeback could certainly be possible.

Arrow: Manu Bennett Teases Deathstroke’s Return in Season 6

Arrow star Manu Bennett is teasing his return to the CW superhero series as Oliver Queen’s deadliest enemy, Slade Wilson, AKA Deathstroke, with an ominous looking image via his personal Instagram.

Bennett’s continued presence on the show should be a huge relief to Arrow fans. The show’s series-best second season was defined by the conflict between Oliver and Slade. Not only was Slade the show’s most compelling villain, the relationship between the two even made the show’s long lamented flashback scenes work. Bennett showed up in one season 3 episode, but had been absent from the series until season 5’s penultimate episode.

Unraveling The Latest Clues in Arrow's Vigilante Mystery

arrow-season-6-vigilante-998968-640x320.

Quote

May's Arrow season 5 finale resolved numerous dangling plot threads.

It did not, however, resolve the question of Vigilante's identity or whereabouts, something that fans had been wondering about since Adrian Chase (the man previously thought to be Vigilante) turned out to be Prometheus. Show-runners said shortly after season 5 ended that Vigilante had not died when Prometheus dropped him off a roof, and would reappear in season 6.

Not much else was revealed about the costumed crime-fighter, who served primarily as an antagonist to Team Arrow, until this week, when some new clues hit the web and started to change the shape of the mystery a little bit. Among them: Vigilante will be someone close to one of the series regulars, and he will serve as an "opposite number" to one of Team Arrow's members. He was also characterized as a villain, rather than the antihero he sold himself as last season.
