Comics: Philosophy & Practice Conference May 18-20, 2012 University ofChicago

5 posts in this topic

Here's an upcoming event in May that I think many would be interested in attending. Please note that this is an academic event being held at the University of Chicago. There will be no "dealers" per se although books will be available for purchase. THE ARTISTS WILL NOT BE SIGNING according to organizers.

Now why would you be interested?

Because there is a legendary list of creators who rarely attend conventions that will be there. Here's a short list of who will not be signing your books.

Crumb, Spiegleman, Ware, Clowes, Burns, Seth.

They will however be speaking, doing panels, and workshops et. al.

Check it out my friends.

Free, yes, but registration is currently full. Here's a note from the site:

Due to the overwhelming response, we have reached capacity for this event. Registration is now closed.

Regarding walk up availability: Tickets that have not been picked up 15 minutes prior to the first event of each day will be released. (5:45 pm Friday, 8:45 am Saturday, 8:45 am Sunday)

We will do our best to accommodate walk ups, though we cannot guarantee admission.
