Also, I just noticed...

The 139 shows Morbius giving Spidey a taste of the glove outside on a roof somewhere, while the image from ASM101/SMCW140 shows Morbius b&*%$-slapping him down some stairs in a spooky mansion-type setup. I guess what I'm asking is, why does Spider-Man lead with his face? :insane:

Slow learner?

KRUNNTCH

I say again, I love that cover. The colouring is just mad - bit's of blue hair. A yellow finger. Miscut bits at the top and bottom. It's so sloppy it's genius.

It’s pure 1960s Marvel humorously criticizing (and at the same time acknowledging) "Pop Art".

I think I no longer have this one, but the coloring is so funky that I must show it here as well:

That's why, previous to that issue, the pages were alternated in color and black and white. With issue 27 it starts being 100% in color, and the cover meant to stress this!

A bit like our pence priced "ALL COLOUR COMICS!" logos from the seventies. We do the best Marvels don't we, us foreigners

Are you from the UK? But if so, previously the UK books were in black and white? Or were there none? Before the "ALL COLOUR COMICS" I mean. :)

I am. Our Marvel reprints were all in black and white with the odd single colour pages. That was the standard. When pence priced variants of the originals came over, it was felt important to stress to the UK readers that the comics were in full colour. I remember as a kid our paper shops had our A4 sized reprint comics like Spider-Man Comics Weekly (which I didn't know were reprints at the time) and these odd looking smaller ones with sodding great price stamps on them. I still remember the first day I realised ours weren't the real ones!

I see. Yes, I used to have a few of the magazine sized ones. Now I just have the "British originals" with new material (i.e. The Daredevils, and the issues with/of Captain Britain).
So basically when they started doing the comic-book price variants (equal to the originals) they stressed the color factor!

Yes, but with a 'u'

Here's the date summary from a table in my Marvel UK Price Variant thread - August 1974 to Sep 1980:

I just pickup up a whackload of nice Éditions Héritage French Canadian versions of a bunch of Marvel keys.  UXM 94, Daredevil 1, Hulk 181, IM 55...VERY fun stuff!  I actually have one pic handy...I can take a group shot if peeps would like to see.  And I gotta say it's great to see all the artwork for these books in black and white!

Now to decide if I sell...........
