CGC case tampering?

2 posts in this topic

CGC,

I have about 100 CGC graded comics in my collection now and I have noticed that a few of them have what appears to be a tiny amount of material at one or more corners that ranges from clear with tiny bubbles to translucent. I don't know if this is something that is naturally occuring or evidence of tampering. If it were naturally occuring, perhaps it is the inner well extending a bit beyond the outter casing and CGC "melts" it off leaving behind a small and hardly noticable "crust" that ranges from clear with tiny bubbles to translucent. Or perhaps its super glue from someone having tampered with the case?

The more I examine the CGC cases in my collection , the more I notice the material on different CGC cases in tiny amounts, its usually on the top corners but occasionally its on the bottom corners. I see it on cases bought from many different sellers at different times.

On 2 of the cases, the material is obvious and can be physically felt if you run your finger over the edge of the case. Those pics are below. Please review the pics and let me know if this is known to occur on some cases or if you feel these have been tampered with.

That is just the residual plastic from when the case is removed from its mold and may vary case to case. If you are concerned about tampering it is best to make sure that all four posts (in the corners of the outer case) are still intact.
