Wizard World Chicago Forum Dinner

8 posts in this topic

For any of you OA folks who might be attending Wizard World Chicago:

Steve Borock (formerly of CGC and now with Heritage) is organizing the annual Forum Dinner on Saturday August 11, about an hour after the show closes, at Gibson's Steakhouse in Rosemont (right across the street from the convention center). If we get enough people we'll have the private room (and a private bar!).

If you haven't been, it's a good time. Numerous forumites and dealers attend, show off their purchases of the show, talk about comics and art, and basically have a good geeky time. It's always nice to meet the real people behind all these avatars. Plus, Gibson's has great steaks and you might even get a potato as big as your head.

Here's a link to the sign-up thread in Comic Events if you want to join the fun:

Steve Borock has secured the private room at Gibsons and is trying to nail down the head count. If you're interested in attending, follow the link in the post above and let Steve know you're attending. (thumbs u

It usually runs about $60 to $75 per person, but I don't think Steve has posted the price yet. He's still working with Gibson's to get the best price.

Hope to see some of you there!

Roy, glad the two of you made it. Too bad there weren't more art folks there - Steve Borock managed to wrangle Neal Adams and Joe Jusko to join the dinner. :whatthe:(worship)

Had great conversations with them both. What a couple of interesting guys -- and an unexpected bonus to an already fun dinner!!

I ended up inviting Tyler Mane and his wife to stop by (Tyler played Sabretooth in the first X-men movie) who were sitting outside in the main Gibson's room.

Turns out his wife Renae Geerlings was editor in Chief for Top Cow Comics from 1996-2006. Anyway, they did stop by for a bit as well.

It was a fun evening with en eclectic mix of collectors, creators, dealers and fans.
