I'm making this big but the payoff is in the details.

 

Kida doesn't fake it with the mass of monkeys. You can distinctly notice that he drew many monkey bodies in the mass though he knew the details would drop in reproduction. Regardless, he follows that in the next panel with no fewer than 20 separate figures!! Amazing to this comic geek.

Very interesting perspective on several levels (almost an Eisner-like quality to it). A gem - who is the artist?

 

Exactly my thoughts as well when I saw it. It's New York New York and stoops (or should that be Duluth Duluth) before Eisner did it.

Since lashing are on the boards' mind it seems. This gruesome panel from Rudy Palais was readily available in Weird Terror # 3. Maybe, just maybe, Wertham had room to stand with imposing limits on material in those funny books -
