The Top 100 Books of the Silver Age !!! This is gonna be fun!

Great input guys, keep it coming. Why don't we parse the problem in two pieces

 

1) what are the top 100 silver age books

 

2) ranking of those top 100

 

I think that will make things a bit more focused and will allow up to get to resolution faster!

 

I'm going to post a list of a top 110-115 based on what I've seen and the input I've been provided (both in PMs and posts) and then to keep things organized, why doesn't everyone just post like this

 

"please include x,y,z in the top 100" (not found on my list)

"to get to the top 100, please remove x,y,z"

 

Sound good? Who knows, maybe we take the cheap way out (figuratively, not literally) and turn this into a top 125 book list..... :insane: still need to rank the books though!! :insane:

Good idea, as it was hard to include some key books and keep the list to 100? Or perhaps the top 125 could be a follow up thread, once there is time for all interested board members to provide their input for the top 100.

So, working from the last list posted, just post

1) which you would add

2) which you would take away

 

Don't worry about ranking #1, #2, etc...just focus on books which belong on the top list versus not. (thumbs u

Oops, #67 Detective 226 is the origin of Manhunter continued. :makepoint:

Archie's Pals and Gals 23 (1st Josie)?

One more minor change:

 

#72 X-men 12 is the origin of Prof X., not Dr Strange.

Little Dot was not considered because the list is to consist of only Marvel & DC books, per the OP. That is not to say it is not a desirable or important book. You might have the seeds a of a new thread there, for top non Marvel non DC S.A. books.

Here's my list, now ranked in order. Thanks to Miraclemet (thumbs u for the advice on MIS 53, the 1st appearance of Adam Strange. That book ranks 50th on my list.

First things that stand out for me looking at the list are

1. The first 30 books on the list are much much more desirable then the next 70.

2. DC really doesn`t have many keys.

3. More Batman should be on the list.

4. Green Lantern 7(Sinestro) should be ranked much higher.

 

Any thoughts?

I did leave the top 33 in order, see the comments below, not that they could not be changed. :whistle:

 

We already had a top 33 or so silver age thread that was determined by several voting polls. If I recall correctly, there were several books that got voted off. Couldn't we determine a top 100 from that? Or at least just decide on 34-100 or wherever that list stopped?

Tec 225 is not a Silver Age book- if you include it on this list then it follows that this book is the first Silver Age book since it precedes Showcase 4 and should be placed higher on the list.
