MAGAZINE MODERN

  Stated turnaround times when submit.: CCS = 35 b days; CGC = 45 b days (Total 80 b days or 16+ weeks)

Date of Con Drop Off - 6/10/2018

CGC Received Date ("Rec-CCS Required") - 6/14/2018 (Bus. days since Con submission = 4)

  "At CCS" - 7/3/2018 (Bus. days since "Rec-CCS Required" = 13)

"Received" - 9/14/2018 (Bus. days since "At CCS" = 52 b days or +17 b bays or 3.5 weeks over estimate!)

  "Verified" - 9/18/2018 (Bus. days since "Received" = 2)

"Scheduled for Grading" - 10/5/2018 (Bus. days since "Verified" = 13)

"Graded" - 10/8/2018 (Bus. days since "Scheduled for Grading" = 1)

"Grading Quality Control" - 10/31/2018 (Bus. days since "Graded" = 17)

TOTAL Business Days since "Rec-CCS Required" = 98

CAVEAT = I have now learned that CGC does not use the ordinary understanding of the term "business days."  For this post, I am using that tern in its normal sense. When they ship the book, I will re-calculate the TAT based on CGC's unique definition which excludes a number of Fridays from being "business days."

I dropped off 3 submissions at Fan Expo Toronto on September 1st. They were all invoice dated September 6th. The Modern books submission were graded and shipped back to me on October 8th. I got the books back a couple of days later. I was impressed with the speed!

However, the Economy tier submission is still only in Verified status and the Modern books I sent for press and grade are in Received status. I know the submission for pressing and grading will take much longer, but I'm surprised the Economy submission is so far behind the Modern one I already got back. Is this normal?

Seems normal.  When I began tracking my Economy and Modern books, Economy books were slated to take like 446 business days while Modern were expected to take ~30.

446 days seems about right with most subs. :kidaround:

Just dropped my first prescreen sub in the mail: 27 moderns slow track.

Speaking of which, it was not only received but went all the way to verified today! :headbang:

Curious to see how long the prescreen takes

My prescreen had been cut into two invoices for exceeding 25 books.

Invoice 1 hit SFG today.

Invoice 2 went all the way to graded/QC today! :whatthe:

Of course, this is a con weekend so it likely won’t move again until Monday.

I  just suffered the TAT of the Damned over at CBCS: 22+ weeks. for 10 witnessed signature moderns. No pressing. When I formally complained, VP of CBCS/Beckett sent a reply e-mail politely telling me to perform a certain impossible anatomical act & that I would get my books back whenever they felt like getting around to it; or I could have my books back w/ a partial refund.

So, assuming someone in Dallas can perform a rectal/cranial inversion long enough to mail my books back, they'll be headed CGC's way shortly.

Honestly, anything has to be better than 22 weeks of waiting just to get back raw books. ;)

"Let me tell you what I do know. Every day I come by CGC's submissions page and check my submissions. And I go to the forums and make a few posts and have a few laughs, and it's great. You know what the best part of my day is? It's for about 10 seconds from when I pull up the submissions tracking page. Because I think maybe I'll look there and see that they're past RECEIVED. I don't know much, but I know that."

PSA: I was under the impression that when books were with CCS, they would appear on your submissions page as CCS-Rec'd or CCS-Verified or something along those lines.  Well, I've had a few books that I submitted for CCS which appear as "Received" so I thought they had already moved through the pressing phase.  (They admittedly moved through quickly so I figured CCS just determined that a press was unnecessary).  Anyways, I called customer service today and was informed that the books are still with CCS despite appearing as "Received".

tl;dr - i'm not sure what CCS/CGC's notations mean anymore, but if you subbed a book for press and are wondering why its appearing as "Received" for so long, it's possible it is still with CCS.
