I've only seen his signature on one Star Wars item, before I saw that book. He signed a few limited edition millennium falcon models years ago, and that's about it. There's a bunch of probable fakes on eBay.

He has signatures in several Topps trading card sets, including the 2008 Star Wars 30th Anniversary, 2008 Indiana Jones, and 2012 Star Wars Galactic Files.

Variant porn

That is an awesome copy that you should take to the grave. What is the high end pool on the .35 copies like these days. Have any high grade copies surfaced in the last couple of years? Have any come up for auction. I know a couple 9.4 s sold in 2009 or 2010 or thereabouts,

If they think 400 exist out of the 1500 printed, how many have been slabbed?

Regarding the #1 35cent variants, there was a brief time when the market was soft for uber expensive slabs due to the state of the economy, etc. I am guessing possibly early 2008 or 2009. But there were two different back to back in less than 3-4 months CGC 9.4 SW #1 35 cent variant listings on CL and both fetched only in the low $4K range. I was so upset that I missed both of those. These will not show up in GPA.

Fast forward to now, there was recently a CGC 9.2 that fetched $6550 on ebay. And a CGC 9.0 in October that fetched somewhere between $6500 - $8995 on a best offer acceptance on ebay. There was also a sale this year for a CGC 9.4 that I want to say was over $10K - that one you should be able to check with GPA because I think it was on ebay.

There are still only two CGC 9.6's in the census. Actually I believe one of those was a cracked out/pressed 9.4. Maybe joeypost can add color on that one. But the 9.6's will not sell for less than $20K+ range easy. Only thing is, those previous prices will not show up on GPA because the last one was on CL.

Anyone have a SS with Harrison Ford's signature? I hear it's pretty damn impossible to get him to sign anything. Like maybe having a Ditko signed AF15?

There are currently 42 SW #1 CGC 9.8 SS slabs in the census. I have never seen a Harrison Ford sig on one of these. At one point, I had a 9.8 that was signed by the entire cast except Ford. In total I have owned eight different 9.8 SS slabs at one point in time or another. And have personally seen another dozen or more of the others that are out there. I am not saying that one definitively does not exist with Ford, just that I have not heard of one.

But if one ever popped up with the entire cast + Ford, that would sell for insane money. The 9.8 signed by cast w/o Ford SS slab fetches in the $1650-$1900 range. As the movie grows closer, that should easily break $2000. But then again, its not like there are allot of these out there anyways.

I remember my best friend trading a nice looking SW #1 35 Cent Variant for a Secret Wars #4 he needed. We were so pissed that the shop had the book up on the wall as a $50 book in a day. This was when Secret Wars was coming out so 1984 or so. I still remind him about it when I see him.

It's been announced that a new trilogy will begin filming early next year with the original cast returning.

With that I wanted to celebrate that announcement with getting this bad boy.

I picked this up int he most recent ComicLink auction. Mid-grade, but happy to be in both the #1 club and the 35 cent variant club:

Picked up a few of these unopened packages at an auction

years ago.

mm

These 3 packs are very common on E-Bay with one or more listed at any given time. They go for $10 - $15 usually, although I've snagged a few in the past few years for under $10.

I'm guessing your 3 packs have the word REPRINT printed on the cover vertically below the diamond. What I've been trying to figure out is where do the $0.35 copies without the word REPRINT with the diamond and a blank UPC come from? I've bought several of these bags over the years and have never seen one without the word REPRINT for issues 1-3.

On this page http://www.bipcomics.com/showcase/StarWars/Marvel/StarWars/001-006.html I'm referring to the first 3 issues on the last row.

Also, I noticed on that page the $0.35 5 and 6 with diamond and blank UPC are not reprints, but I have 3 packs with those 2 copies and the $0.35 4 with diamond and blank UPC that is a reprint. So, they bundled a reprint with 2 non-reprints?

They are DIRECT MARKET copies, with the blank UPCs being made for the 3-packs by special order from Whitman.

If there is no "reprint" on the cover or at the indicia, it's not a reprint.

And yes, in the confusion of the reprints, it was very possible that Whitman would have bundled reprints and non-reprints together. Whitman got pallets of books for months, so that they would have 2-3 issues of any given run to put in their packs. That's one of the reasons why everyone thought they were all reprints: they showed up months after the originals.

But this was never the case. They simply sat on them until they could make whatever 3-packs they wanted to make, and then distributed them to K-Mart, Wal-Mart, etc.

Just noticed this sale (?) of a slabbed UK Star Wars Weekly: ebay link

$800? Really? I see there are a few in other grades floating around. I had the idea to slab some of these a few months ago myself, though they aren't going to be 9.8.

The Star Wars Weekly #1 has to be a tough book to find in 9.8. The size (magazine size) and the insert makes that particular book a hard one to get in grade.

I should be getting around to adding a Star Wars UK blog post or two to my new blog:

http://swcomiccollector.blogspot.com/

I'll try to get something up this month concerning the UK comics. I believe the UK had more different formats for the original Star Wars pages than any other country, including the US. In addition to the weekly magazine, they had their own pamphlet comic (not issue #1 however), the paperback from Sphere, Treasuries (pence copies!), and a hardcover annual. Star Wars was definitely a big deal in the UK.

I have always liked this book, but the rise in price on this is rather scary considering how many copies are out there. I know everyone wants a copy, but with so many graded and especially ungraded books available I would be wary of spending big money.
