I thought you might get a laugh out of seeing that there was a prior generation of the "Polaris Nuclear Sub" comic ads of the Silver Age.

This comes from the Frank Tousey nickel weekly line in 1919... the dying days of the dime novel era.

It's kind of funny to see how long this stuff has been going on, but it's been going on for forever. I think I have a dancing skeleton ad from the 1880s around here somewhere. It's always been part of the business model, and not uncommon to find that the business is someone associated with the publisher in some way.
