Perhaps sculpt some heroines, as female anime figures :golfclap: sell well:

1. Phantom Lady

2. Sheena, Jungle Girl

Shadroch - you are my hero!!! I am presently sculpting Fantomah, but let's just say that the Black Terror is suddenly on my radar screen in a big way! Let me know if you have a particular cover/costume variation that interests you.

beaumonts - It looks like the production run will be around 300 if we just squeak past the fundraising goal. Individual numbering is definitely a possibility; let me check with the supplier.

radjack - I look forward to your pledge and glad to hear that there is an interest in horror subjects! I need to set up a formal poll here or on my site to find out the possible audience for specific genres, characters, etc.

Crime SuspenStories 22 - Concerning the cover of CSS22, I would have to negotiate the EC license before proceeding with a figurine. Also, do we see the face of the murderer in the interior art?

I'm very happy that my project is meeting with some enthusiasm here - please keep the pledges and suggestions coming in! Many, many thanks to all who have pledged thus far.

-Jared

You guys are amazing! I am floored by your support and generosity. What a great forum!

aardvark88 - I'm liking those Golden Age heroines, though I may have to tread carefully with Phantom Lady and Quality characters generally. If there are any attorneys on this board who are IP specialists that would offer a reduced rate in exchange for some complimentary figures, please send me a private message.

comeaux and Scrooge - Many thanks for your support! I literally couldn't do this without you guys.

I'm going to be posting an update and a new reward in the near future - stay tuned!

-Jared

I don't normally buy figures, and haven't even gotten around to picking up the Hank's trades, but this is too cool to pass on and I had to pledge.

Wow, thank you rjpb! Glad you found merit in the overall project. I highly recommend seeking out the Hanks' trades by Karasik, they are two of my favorite collections (obviously!) and quite unlike anything else out there.

I've read a couple Stardust stories and flipped through the trades at the comic store, and while I find Hanks' weirdness compelling, I find myself buying fewer trade collections of GA material these days, as the repetition of storyline feels more evident when reading in big chunks than it does with the stray story reprinted here or there.

Still Fletcher Hanks fits in nicely with my underground sensibilities, so maybe I'll look for them cheap on Amazon.

I can say, without a doubt, that I found the Hanks books the most compelling Golden Age material I've ever read. Certainly not the best art or writing, but the most memorable. I'm very visually oriented and there is something captivating about the crude and insane vigor of his work. There are also some secondary alien, robot, and monster characters in there which caught my eye - I think they would make terrific figurines but I'm probably in the minority on that.

Well, we're 8 days into the Fletcher Hanks' Stardust Figurine Kickstarter and 35% funded - pretty good, but still quite a ways to go. Many, many thanks to everyone who has pledged thus far! Please tell your friends about it and help spread the word; getting the word out about it is critical to meeting the funding goal. I've added a couple new rewards which will hopefully attract some new pledges:

On the low end, I've added a $5 pledge for those who want to support the project but can't afford the figurine; for this amount, you will receive a limited edition Stardust trading card:

I estimate that only 10-20 of these will be produced, so it may become collectible in its own right. It's only available at the $5 pledge level; any excess cards I have at the end will be randomly added to figurine orders.

On the high end, I've added a $750 reward for the serious collector - for this amount, I will digitally sculpt you a single public domain character of your choice and deliver a completely unique hand-painted resin 3D print with a certificate of authenticity. It must be at 1/21 scale and a humanoid of normal stature, not an oversized character like Stardust. This would put it at about 3.5" high. This sculpt will not be produced in quantity and remain one of a kind. If the character you choose is commercial enough to eventually merit mass production, I will substantially alter the pose, select another costume variation, etc. to maintain the exclusivity of your figurine. This reward may seem rather expensive, but given the fact that a professional sculpt can easily run $1200, and a high end 3D print $250 (at this size), it's actually a relative bargain.

In addition, I've created a survey to determine the level of interest in and content of a potential "Golden Age Comics Figurine Collection." If you have a moment, you may fill it out here; it will only take a few minutes and help me in planning out the series.

Finally, a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on the forum! My reception here has been wonderful and I'm very impressed by the passion and in-depth knowledge people here have of the hobby.

Hey Jared, I went ahead and filled your survey, I hope you find it helpful! (thumbs u

I also asked a friend of mine to advertise this on his figures/toys blog, he has some faithful readers so I think I might get you a couple new orders for your kickstarter.

Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you very much, Detroit Mike! I also have a brief survey about the proposed ongoing series of Golden Age figurines. It only takes a few minutes to complete and you have the opportunity to suggest your favorite characters, series, etc.
