Name written on first page of comic 0

How does CGC treat the issue of a comic owner's name written in pen on the interior first page of a comic who is not anyone noteworthy? Will the label state that the name is written inside in pen? Thanks!

We would note that there was writing on the first page, but not necessarily what was written if it was not significant or legible.

Signature does not impact grade of a book unless there's defects created by the signature like someone mishandling the book or a tear caused by the pen.

No.  names written inside do not garner Green label.  They do affect the blue grade you get.

It would be nice if creator signatures which are obviously theirs (like John Byrne, for instance) were consistently noted. I have gotten slabs with the creator's name noted, which I like, and slabs with the generic "name written", which I don't.

Nore: that's not a backdoor route to after-the-fact sig authentication.

It's simply reading what's there, and noting it.

If John Romita signs a book...it's clearly legible as the words "John Romita" without stating that it was signed by THAT John Romita.

Noting the words "John Romita" instead of "name" has greater value to me.
