Signatures on first page, and how it effects the grade.

2 posts in this topic

I've seen how the signatures on the first page are noted on universal slabs, but does this effect the grade if it's a known signature (Lee, McFarlane, etc.?) Or, does it even matter? In other words, if the book is a flawless 9.9 or 10.0, and it has an artists sig on the first page, can it achieve those grades?

It would not matter who had signed the book, but signatures on the first page are nominally factored into the grade so they can prevent the book from getting the top grade. Therefore if more signatures are present, or if the signature(s) are large in size, they will affect the book's grade more.
