Sorry, very noob question, but can't find answer in FAQ or search...

What exactly are the steps taken to preserve a comic when it is slabbed by cgc? I have read that they use some kind of "micropaper". Do they do this for all comics, or just certain ones? What else do they do?

Is the plastic they use itself acid-free, pvc-free, etc?

Is it water-tight and air-tight?

Sorry to ask what must be a very common question, but I couldn't find an answer in the FAQ, or on CGC's website.

The outer shell is only partially sealed and only adds rigidity to the comic. The comic book is sealed inside a well of archival safe plastic on all four sides. This creates a seal that resists moisture and gasses passing through to the comic, but is not completely airtight. Please note that if the seal is compromised then additional moisture and gasses can reach the comic. A piece of microchamber paper is placed inside the comic to help absorb any off-gassing. You should still exercise care when handling and storing CGC comics.
