I don't think I will ever understand how the "$X a point" math is supposed to work.  It clearly doesn't extend all the way up the grading scale ... a 9.0 is not $9,000.

Yeah, it's more of a rule of thumb rather than a hard fast rule but tends to work for lower to mid grade copies... once you start nearing NM- prices start doubling depending on rarity.

But I also feel it doesn't work at low grades either - i.e., there is a price to get into a low grade say 2.0-2.5 range and it is often higher than a price per point matrix.  Its almost as if there is a minimum entry point for certain books (higher than a price per point average) - then a price per point average can be applied for 4.0 -8.0 ranges and then it gaps again in higher grades.  But maybe it is just books I look at :)

Yes,  you are totally right.

For a lot of high end books , -like TMNT1 first print... there is a premium / entry fee for the lower grade copies.

It's just a general rule of thumb,  makes things a little more objective...

I do anticipate that this could increase as we inch closer to the movie.

I think movie hype has already been factored into the current ppp-level.

I just bought my keeper copy as well, but am paying it off over time.  Will post it when it comes in later this spring.

Great copies here, everyone.  It seems like every SA and BA Marvel key is going up, either steadily or rapidly (XM 1, anyone?).  Keep 'em comin'!

This book is heating up again.  a 6.5 just sold for $6500???

Meanwhile, a 5.0 WPs sold for $3,750. I have no idea why anyone actually buys from comicmylars when he charges double what books are worth.
