Excellent.  I’m glad you were able to get it.  I thought that was a really good price for a 5.5 universal comic from the 50’s with a Bill Everett cover

Definitely a good price! I wish I could add it to my registry set, but oddly, there's no slot for it!!! It also doesn't show up on the census either, because it was recently graded and they must not have caught up on updating it yet. So, when they DO catch up, it should be the only graded copy.  (thumbsu

When I first started collecting Marvel Monsters, Strange Tales were usually cheaper and easier to find than the other titles.  I think it’s because the Strange Tales numbering is higher, making the average collector think it’s less valuable than a TTA issue. Strange Tales was the first PHM run I completed, how about you all?

I’ll let you know when I actually complete one

That’s because you’re more discriminating/disciplined than me.  Your copies are gorgeous

I do have some pretty banged up ones that I purchased many years ago, when I had no money, and the pickin’s where slim for these type books at cons and LCS. I have tried to be more selective, but the current prices are now pushing me into lower grades. I am fine with that though, as these books are all great in any condition.

The PHM run I finished the last was Amazing Adult Fantasy because those are usually around double the price of other monster funnies.  I wonder how many newsstand owners filed it with the pornographic mags because of the title?

I did actually finish off this title in 2019, so I guess I’ve finished one ...

I ‘m a completist that ends up overpaying for the last few I need because a hole bugs me so bad.  I wonder if dealers look at our competitive sets, find ones that are 98-99% complete, and then list our missing issues with a 300% markup?

That tactic wouldn’t work well against me, since at least 80% of my books are unslabbed.

Up until 2017 I used to crack open CGC comics because I used to think “Why spend this much money on a comic just to not read and enjoy it?”   Then in 2018 I became a member and now I want any key/valuable comic graded. That way if I need to sell it, it’s ready to go and they look really pretty in their cases.  I have reprints of most of them and plenty of other comics from that period that are cheap and readable.  I’ve really been kicking myself for devaluing some issues by reading them.  There was only one instance where one came back with a higher grade when I sent it in to be regraded.  It was my FF #1 (Thank God)
