There's been a continuous discussion of how eBay buyers often take advantage of the system and bilk honest sellers. If you've sold on eBay chances are you've been swindled by these ne'er do wells that will take your item and then proceed to take advantage of you by insisting "the box was empty" or "there's some sort of damage" or they just don't pay. Needless to say, whatever your gripe is with a scum-bayer you can post it up here and leave their eBay username so that others can 'block' these aholes and prevent their tomfoolery.

This toolbag was a zero feedback bidder on an auction of mine:

He put a best offer in with a message telling me that essentially "everyone was selling it cheaper" and that "he could send me links to prove it".

 

I decided to take him up on his "best offer". Low and behold he dodged payment. I opened a case with Ebay and he never responded.

 

A few days later he bought something from sparklecity.

 

Overall, I find it pretty dubious and I've blocked this azzclown from any of my auctions.

Hopefully this thread can save some folks the agida that comes with dealing with mental midgets hellbent on scamming.

I understand your concern, but that's why we can discuss the names here and the circumstances revolving around the issue. If a boardie is named and would like to defend themselves they surely can.

 

That said, I'm sure that boardies that conduct themselves properly won't be present here for 'blocking'.

I've been eBaying for over 16 years now and have a pretty long block list. Most of the ones I block are just non-payers. But I have had a few that were a little strange and also a few where they try to extort feedback or claim damage. I've had VERY FEW where someone disagrees about the grade of a book. I might go through the list to see if all of the IDs are still active and remove those that are no longer on eBay.

 

I do have a theory about this though - I think most of the non-paying and extorting happens to sellers that don't have a long history of selling OR those sellers that have extremely negative copy on their auctions such as "Don't bid if you cannot afford it" or "Non-Payers will be reported to eBay" or other such stuff - "claiming damage" is one way an eBayer can make that type of seller's life "complicated" - i.e. I believe that negative stuff on an auction page attracts negative stuff from eBayers.

 

I'm fortunate I guess, as my percentage of dead beat bidders is extremely low - probably less than 0.5% all time.

I was scammed by dancebpm and kingpin777comics. If anyone has information on these guys, then please let me know. I received a partial refund on the transaction with dancebpm, but I'm still out over $100 on that one. My order from kingpin777comics simply never arrived, and I didn't get a refund. Thanks!

Not to pry but how'd you get scammed by dancebpm? It seems as if you recvd. partial refund...but I'm not sure what the circumstances were that led you to recvd. said refund or what the issue was at all.

 

Also: how much time elapsed with relation to kingpin777comics order? I've had issues with sellers before that were the result of: family emergencies and other problems that were beyond their control. It has sometimes taken even 2 weeks to fully resolve some of the issues. When I feel that a reasonable period of time has elapsed or I have no recourse I do open a case and let eBay handle it.

 

Anyway, I appreciate the post and would like to add these folks to my block list as well....but to address the concerns of others that this thread will turn into an unfair 'witch hunt' I think it's also important to list a few facts here about the transactions in question that would necessitate 'blocking'.

 

I think not receiving your item and having no contact or resolution from the seller for a reasonable period of time constitutes that sort of necessity FTR.

 

If you could share any more details, I'm sure we'd all appreciate it. Thanks!

The item was illegally posted by dancebpm, and I never received it. For all I know, the item never existed. I paid $385 for it and was refunded $175 by eBay. $210 will be a lot of diapers, so I'm still pissed after seven years.

Regarding kingpin777comics, I also never received the item from him. We discussed the issue off and on for a couple of months over email. I was told that the item was shipped, but must have been lost in the mail. I was also told to expect a refund check after the shipping insurance was claimed from the USPS. Ultimately, I never received a refund, and kingpin777comics closed his eBay account and associated email account. The item was $229. I am officially done with eBay.
