I didn't mean that, anyway.

I'm conscious that some may feel that I have hijacked this thread, which is supposed to be for the appreciation of the Philippine publications.

I worried about that, too, but conversations drift. That's why we like them. :headbang:

No one gives a flying focaccia anyway so it likely doesn't matter....

"Printed in the Philippines" is a good label title.

That could lead to confusion though where a book is printed in a different country than the one it is intended for distribution in. "Distributed in the Philippines" would be both factually accurate and less open to confusion (some Marvels are printed in Canada for example)

As per Rakehell's post that landed as I was typing!

@ganni - how should we be referring to comics from the Philippines - Pilipino or Filipino? Or are both terms acceptable?

Not looking good for an answer - Jennifer and Ashley have blitzed every recent question but mine:

Maybe they're waiting on an answer themselves before reporting back...

Get.  The term "pilipino" means i guess are the people and their language.  If the book's label  is "pilipino".  The dialogue is not in english.  Thats just my opinion.  What really matters is that Philippine variants are not bootleg copies.  Its just "printed in the Philippines".  And its not label as reprints.

After seven days, my question is the only one with no response - Ashley and Jennifer have answered every other question over at 'Ask CGC' (apart from one I answered for them - a 'thanks' would have been nice, I'm not staff) and have been active for the last three days.

Good luck @ganni, if you send any of your Pilipino / Filipino books in. Thanks for the debate Debbie @rakehell

Over and out.

Well, I have been bitten by the Philippines reprint bug.  I picked up this Incredible Hulk 154 Goodwill recently.  It has 12 wraps inside the cover, including 2 pages of Goodwill Bookstore ads.

That's a nice one - presumably the numbering corresponds with the ASM I posted earlier in the thread:

I wonder if any of the previous thread participants / collectors established the nature of the pattern

Based on photos of Goodwill reprints previously posted in this topic (see below), esp. DD 86/3172 (indicia states copyright 06/1972 by Goodwill) and ASM 108/0474 (1974 calendar inside front cover) I think it is likely that the last two characters of the Goodwill issue # is the year of publication.  The meaning of the characters preceding the last two characters, I think, are not as clear.  Those first characters might  further identify the date of publication or mighy be some sequential identifier.

I find it interesting that all the Goodwill issue #s shown below starting with "C" were originally published 08/1972 (Iron Man 49; Incredible Hulk 154; Avengers 102; Cap 152; DD 90; Submariner 52; ASM 110), while the Rawhide Kid 101/05375, which has a different Goodwill issue # format, was originally published 07/1972 (there was a Rawhide Kid originally published 08/1972).
