It was still in its untouched state but had a slight sun shadow to right edge that the collector investor that bought it tried to have removed , unsuccessfully . It’s otherwise untouched for me I don’t care if it’s in a purple or conserved case ,

Until it comes time to sell it because a Conserved copy will sell for much much more than the exact same book if it's residing in a Restored PLOD slab.  :gossip:

True conserved would be better for resale and I’ve considered that but reluctant . My initial conversation with Cgc was that they would never change a restored Label to conserved if the book had been cleaned chemically ( the only thing done to this book ,in a ill advised attempt to remove a slight sun shadow on right edge ).

When did you have this initial conversation with the people at CGC as the serial number indicates the book was graded back in 2009?  hm

Just wondering if you are aware that CGC has made significant changes to their Restoration Grading Scale and it seems it's never a good idea to say "never".  From their changes back in 2014, it would appear that Cleaning (both water and solvent) have now moved out of the much dreaded PLOD category into the more buyer friendly Conserved category:

Conservation Repairs

Conservation repairs are performed with the intent of preserving the structural or chemical integrity of a comic book using professional techniques and materials. It excludes aesthetic repairs such as color touch and piece fill. All conserved grades must satisfy the CGC quality scale of "A" and quantity scale of "1".

  • Tear seals
  • Spine split seals
  • Reinforcement
  • Piece reattachment
  • Some cover or interior cleaning (water or solvent)
  • Staples cleaned or replaced
  • Some leaf casting
  • De-acidification

Then again, they also talk about cover and interior cleaning in their Restoration categories up above at the same time.  :ohnoez: (shrug)

So, who really knows for sure, certainly NOT CGC.

Hi I called and talked to CGC if memory serves about 4  years ago  about the Denver copy of Batman 1. I will make a point of discussing it with CGC  if the book would still be considered restored by current standards. Thank you for updating me .

A cgc 3.5 just hit ebay. It was the most recent listing as I write this.

I doubt it will sell for what he/she's asking.

Well I've waited a long time to see a nice looking Bat 1 .5 missing back cover come to auction. Now I'll get to see what the value of mine is when I sell it in 10 years.

Heritage copy on top and mine on bottom. Pretty much apples to apples comparison.

I think you better just send me your copy. The suspense is going to be bad for your health if you don't:whistle:

The last .5 I can recall that was exactly like this one and came to auction sold for I think like $22K. Want to say it was a Heritage auction 2-3 years ago. So yeah will be interesting to see where this one finishes.
