a little OT: star wars figure/vehicle art?

Uh...yeah. That piece is killer. Is this stuff out there or in the Hasbro archives?

The Transformers stuff is out there. I'm not sure if it was because of the licensing from Takara or how much of the art was originally done in Japan, etc but there is a great deal of G1 TF art floating around.

GI Joe, on the other hand, is all mostly still with Hasbro. Well, pre-1990 stuff anyway. There's a greater amount of post-1990 out there but it's not as desirable because the characters are pretty lame and the art doesn't feature the explosion backgrounds.

Like i said earlier, there are only approx 7 known pieces of pre-1990 figure art outside their archives and one piece of pre-1990 vehicle art, which is the Wolverine piece i referenced earlier. There is some European vehicle packaging art out there, one of which you can see in my CAF gallery:

Nice BUGG!

Somebody's got some great TF stuff then, wow :)

This is the X-wing painting my buddy Dave Groff painted and still has. It sadly never made it to the shelves.

He's also checking to see where he put the Ewok Battle Wagon painting, but this is the box:

Don't take it personally. I'm not questioning your motives and I'm glad you shared all that with us, it was interesting.

But there were some decent numbers thrown around. If we have that discussion and the numbers thrown around are $100 then you might never pipe up and in fact might be offended that so little was thought of your friend's work. And Mitch never bothers to ask about the sectaurs art, because, well... selling a $100 piece can be more trouble than its worth.

I'm not questioning your motives; I take you at your word and honestly I couldn't care less what they are anyways, I'm just glad you added to the discussion.

But when the numbers are bigger the discussion is invariably juicier. 2c

(For example: say that your friend's star wars art was $1m. You (or he) might well, and with good reason, be sharing your friend's biography with us and talking to the auction houses and planning the press release. Juicier).

That was consructive :baiting: you can roll your eyes but its still true (shrug) People still bring up the asm 328 sale. Dollars bring interest and interest brings dollars; there's a symbiotic relationship there

happened across these on CAF today and while I think the images were posted years ago I thought it would be new and fun for some of the people on this thread.

From what I recall these GI joe pieces were viewed at Hasbro HQ by a small group of hobbyists a few years back. I understand they remain corporately owned.

Id love to see an auction (or a private sale for that matter ) for something like the destro or storm shadow. I know if I were selling those Id ask something like 50k or more for destro and more for storm shadow. They are certainly at least as cool as any 80s comic art that sells for 50k 2c
