AJD
Thanks for the recent input guys. Especially @creaturefan95 for posting that story. It saved me doing it. And, yes @1950's war comics, that Silver Flash cover is one of my favourites, though the series had some other beauts. 1950's war comics and FoggyNelson 1

I have been thinking of a new thematic focus, as I have a good % of the war bonds covers I know about and it's getting hard to find new ones. I'd narrowed it down to kangaroos (for obvious reasons) and submarines (a long standing professional interest). As for kangaroos as ongoing characters... you better believe it! Skippy could do all sorts of things, including tuning radio dials and communicate that dad was in a car that had gone into the creek. (That seemed to happen a lot.) Awwww... just like Lassie !! how cool !!! FoggyNelson

These also probably influenced the later series of “Garbage Pail Kids” cards by John Pound. The Ugly stickers are a great set if you love Wolverton! Steve Roper had a daily newspaper strip in the Detroit Free Press back in the day when i used to buy the paper everyday and read the whole thing , i never much followed the comics strips that were continued serials though.. back then (probably up to about 15 yrs ago) the two big daily Detroit newspapers would have two full pages of comic strips each... That strip doesn't appear to have run in Australian newspapers, at least as far as I can tell from the National Library's online search. Though I did find a piece that runs one strip, and has an anti-comic rant about it. This appeared in the Tribune on January 16 1952: And here's the offending strip: This wasn't a Wertham-style rant though. The Tribune was the newspaper of the Communist Party of Australia. It's an odd world when the communists and the conservative forces in society are united against a common foe - the obviously malign influence of comic books on would-be reactionaries and/or solid citizens! I'm not sure that the comic was 'drawn in Australia' as the paper says, though we saw way back in this thread that at least one issue had added local additions. Thanks Sean for getting me to look for the strip - this was an interesting find. I think I might also post it where a few more people might see it. pmpknface and FoggyNelson
Duffman_Comics
Interesting article, if a little incomprehensible - "The comic starts in the usual way. Steve the glamorous leaves his glamorous "boss lady" *What? Steve the glamorous?* (apparently in the US all Bosses are gorgeous females) . . ." Again, what? The rest is equally difficult to decipher, even from a Trotsky perspective (that's a joke, Joyce) What is far more disturbing is the "shaded" article purporting to be from Phoenix - "The Home of the Brave". AJD
New to a short box near me, thanks to @Black_Adam As usual with this title it's a really mixed bag, with crime, sci-fi and 'social justice' stories. While it's completely derivative of Edgar Alan Poe's 'The telltale heart', I quite liked the final story: Black_Adam, Brandon Shepherd, Point Five and 1 other

Duffman_Comics
Well, it seems that "Sleep no more" is present as an expression in both plays - though I readily concede the Hamlet instance is the stronger case for attribution.
