I like your criteria, I would add I collect sci fi Fantasy books from the 50's but like that judge who determines  pornography " I know it when I see it" meaning I like cool covers.

So I have 100's of paperbacks mainly sci fi but many others also just stuff that passes my personal cool test.

Here's another JD related title you never see a crisp copy of...

Thanks for all the replies.  Definitely some items to research and include on my list.  What was interesting is the diversity of the recommendations!

Here's another one of my many, many questions.  I've seen some books that appear like they would benefit from being cleaned by a comic book presser.

Anyone here ever sent a book to one of those guys for cleaning (only)?   How did It go?

Would pressing help some books if they are not laminated?  Just curious.

Lord, I hope not.  The last thing I want to see is that whole mess being done to paperbacks.  Seriously, please don't do that.  (tsk)

Cleaning too?  I’m considering the purchase of a book with a yellow cover. It would be a nice book if it wasn’t so dirty.

I haven't pressed a paperback or digest but I'm sure it could probably be done to non color breaking creases like with comic books. Not sure the heavily glued spines could take the heat of pressing without melting though. 99.9% of paperbacks probably not worth it monetarily anyway. I have tried to lightly clean a few covers with the standard dry eraser method - the wonder bread treatment would probably work as well. As always with dry erasers, you have to go very lightly or you'll take the sheen off, then the color under it. It really only can work for light, superficial dirt. For the most part, it's not worth it.

I hope this isn't off-topic ... but does anyone know what happened to Girasol pulp reprints? They were selling on ebay until last year, then poof they were gone. Did they go out of business?

Does anyone have a source for Mylar bags that are just large enough to fit a paperback?  I have some that are too big so they don't look as nice as I'd like (they stick out on the sides).  I've seen some that are "form fitting" but I can't seem to source any.

Love seeing so many cool books. Picked up another L.B. Cole cover, I think this is his best GGA of the Croydon series.

If this were the cover to a Cole Romance comic book, it would sell for a grand in VG.

Ugh. I’m watching a recent Gary Lovisi  YouTube video.   The topic is paperback restoration.  I have mixed feelings about it. Some of the repairs are potentially reversible.  Some are not.   There are cases like a tape pull repairs that seem warranted.  One repair I did like was an instance where they colored a piece of paper and laid it under the cover (not attached) so it was visible behind a missing corner of the cover. But I absolutely hated the application of vaseline to compensate for missing lamination.

Bottom line is check your books closely for restoration!

EDIT:  I found the link:
