Pat Calhoun 5,070 posts Posted August 15, 2015 yes, the digests don't get the glory, but they are treasure troves of story and art. I think this Avon series (this one 1944) is the first ongoing title that published much fantasy.

frozentundraguy 4,353 posts Posted August 16, 2015 That's a sweet Astounding with other visible virtues in addition to Isaac. I really need to read Van Vogt.... Ditto on the astounding book. I too am just discovering van Vogt, and picked up the book shown below recently. This site has a ranking of classic sci-fi (40's to 60') broken down into two lists, one sponserd by the site and the other list is voted on by the public. Interestingly Asimovs "Foundation" leads the publics list but is not in the top 25 of the site's list. However van Vogt has a book on each list (Slan & World of Null-a) http://bestsciencefictionbooks.com/best-classic-science-fiction-books.php 1 1950's war comics reacted to this

frozentundraguy 4,353 posts Posted August 19, 2015 I was surprised to see these three books from the public list ranked so high; (2) Dune, (4) Stranger in a Strange Land, and (9) Ringworld. I have another book, that made the sites list, in my queue to be read. 1 1950's war comics reacted to this
