This is what you call an anomaly. That being said, where should we really put A level Trimpe pages (not A+++++++++++) pages? Does he even make the last category? Any examples from public sales other than this one?

To my recollection, a few Trimpe Hulk panel pages have hit just above $3k (most seem to be in the broader $1k-$3k range, with better ones in the $2k-$3k range). We are talking non-splash, correct?

I would say the true A trimpe panel pages break 3k. I'm talking the top 3% of pages.

Can you imagine the unsold modern artwork that would be on such list because that's what it's priced at on someone's website and 2 pages of from last month's 22-page-issue were marked "sold?"

Thanks Mike, I believe Bechara has publicly sold some A-level JLA 21/22 interiors in the $5-10k range. Perhaps these Crisis pages are the exception but that's what I was basing it on.

I agree with Mike. I think we have to be careful with anomalies. For example, the Trimpe Wolverine page is not representative of the Trimpe market, it's representative of the Wolverine market. JLA 21/22 would be A+ pages, and we specifically were looking not to include those types of pages on this list.

While updated, how about this:

 

1. Please remove that Trimpe outlier.

2. Would change Bachalo Sandman to Bachalo Sandman/Death

3. Would Wrightson Frankenstein Plates be on this list? If so, 40K and over.

4. Paul Smith X-Men now should be 5-10K I think.

5. Miller 300 should be 20K to 30K.

6. Leach Miracleman should be 10-20K.

 

Can we "lock" this list somewhere so people can't just change it on a whim? That way you can be in charge of updating based on recommendations? It's become a good resource and, although I know "buttock" was just joking, it's important that it can't be changed without oversight.

I paid 3K for this a couple of years ago - a page from my first comic (JLA 29) and the 2nd JLA/JSA cross-over.

 

 

 

I saw a second page sell on eBay for about $1500 more recently.

 

So, I think 5-10 is way too high for panel pages.

I like how this thread is seeing some action again.....maybe to really get it going again, we can add a new layer, a historical layer to be more specific.

 

So, if we all pretty much agree to the A-level page valuations listed by price range for 2014.....what would they have been in 2006, 2001, 1996, 1991, 1986, 1981? I think it would be very interesting to see the exponential growth in values over the years - what spiked most significantly and when, etc. I'm open to suggestions on the year increments we use as others may have more knowledge of when certain spikes happened in the hobby. I was also thinking we could stick to those artist/runs that are currently at $10k+.

 

So for example....and these values are NOT accurate but are just being used to show structurally how we could lay it out.

I don't think there are enough data points to be certain on Byrne X-Men pages at $20-$40 thousand. It only takes two bidders to drive the price up at auction. I was the first person I am aware of to pay that kind of money publicly and I'm out now at those levels for a less than A+ page. There have only been two public sales since then that I know of. They have both been in the same range. I guess what I am suggesting is that maybe there should be an asterisk by this as not yet firmly established.
