If you buy keys for the fc eye appeal, that is a nice 4.0 -- assuming a toasty inside cover wouldn't bother you if you cracked it open.

Sorry if I'm coming across as a pimp for my own book, but it took me years (and one lucky message on these very boards) to find my keeper copy in the same 4.0 grade (below) -- finding a VG copy that has that kind of eye appeal is rough sledding.  The asking price therefore does seem decent in that regard.

Here's a scan of this book when it was listed in the Clink auction last month and sold for under $24K, and the ebay image for comparison.

Whoaa!? What a huge difference! Good catch with the CL scan.  Bad seller for trying to hide the tanning and to make major adjustments on photoshop I presume.

Wow, good catch. Real deceiving on seller part. Almost night and day from copies. I would be a little upset after paying 33k for book and seeing the difference

A little staining at the bottom of the front and back, but...... it's still purdy.

Very nice, Im guessing the staining in the back and the color breaking crease on the front cover is what led to the 4.0.  I would be scared to send for regrade unless its on site same day

This actually sold on IG for 29500 with another deceiving picture for 29,500.  Good profit for seller.  Hopefully buyer not disappointed

Yup, we'll see what happens.  Unless it's the type of buyer who buys only grade over eye appeal

really proves that most people dont know how to look at a scan of a graded book. the white behind the grade should never 'glow' like in this revised scan. contrast should be low, not high. on this book, the deep, reddish background color reads black. obviously its not an accurate image at all.

Appears that they were trying to hide the defects as well to make it more visually appealing.

this thread needs a serious bump! Used to be the top thread of the SA subforum each and every day. But thread has fallen on hard times :sorry:

Pretty soon, the way things are going, we aren't going to be able to give away our AF15s. It's going to be like that NFL Superpro comic or Team America or that Marvel comic about the Pope. I shudder to think of the future of this once and mighty comic! The kids won't believe us when we tell 'em about the greatness it use to hold.

RIP to you, AF15!

well there's an AF15  coming to a CC  auction starting monday 10/22 ending in December:

https://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=855235

It's an 8.0. AF15's on the decline, sales are flattening as collectors are moving on to other "big" books. I say it sells for around 100k to 125k. Cream to OW. Graded 3/30/12. Might not even break 100K, unless you feel as though it's crackable to flatten it some more and get a 9.0 and get that sticker that says it's extra good. That sticker is good for resale! Then you can flip it and maybe get 135K and get some variants like that ASM 667.

Has a bad miswrap. Someone will pay for it.
