Marty Mann
Just noticed this thread and wanted to see if there is any interest in the DC title GIRLS' LOVE STORIES #1. Picked this up years ago in a garage sale box. pmpknface, szav and sagii
Dr. Love
You bet, Marty and I'll tell you how you could make a real contribution to this thread if your book can take it, structurally, could you scan the interior so we can see what DC's first entry was into the hot romance market of late 1949? the book opens with a signed Toth story, we'd love to see it. It also has a signed Kinstler. Always nice to see you on the other side of the tracks! Popular Post GreatCaesarsGhost
I don’t know if this has already been posted(hey, this thread is up to 211 pages!), but it’s a shame this one is so rare. The lurid double entendres make this a truly standout issue. It's covers like this where Hartley gives Matt Baker serious competition. To me Hartley was an in-and-out performer. Some covers, like this one, are very good. But others seem awkward and poorly composed. Don't know whether sometimes he was rushed or the quality of his inkers varied or what. 1950's war comics

Yes, in fact this is the only comic we know of so far that gives the cover model credit by name. This is the book that finally allowed us to ID Miss Kelley, a few years back, before we comic geeks knew who she was.

Dr. Love
One of the two, I believe, double page spreads in romance comics. Kirby originated the technique in Cap America 6.
