I may be wrong, but I think Marvel 1 was the KING for a short time. The early 70s I think.

1983 overstreet price guide

Bought it since I love the Batman, Superman, Woder Woman Cover!

I wonder about the other years...

I still remember the late 90’s early 2000’s FF1 was had the no. 1 spot

Maybe Marvel Marvel Comics 1 also.

Roy, you see this?

Yup. Pretty sure Marvel #1 was top dawg until the Keaton Batman movie in 1989 and then Tec #27 took top spot for a year or two before Action #1 became the most valuable book in OSPG and stayed there.

Yes. I think that's about right.

Marvel comics 1 was top dawg for all of the 70s and 80s. Then Tec27 with the 1989 movie.

That Batman movie created more Batman hysteria in the eye of the general public than any other movie in the history of the hobby.

I remember it was literally everywhere, and Batman comics skyrocketed in price overnight.

My all time fave superhero movie, EVER. Jack Nicholson made the movie. And he got the last laugh. Made a pauper's salary but getting a cut of royalties (toys, etc) was extra smart.

And the Prince soundtrack, WOW!

I agree Gator. But it's still hard to change some of the old timers that loved Marvel 1. All 3 appeal to me in their own way (A1, T27, M1).

Yes. Indeed. All it would take is a movie about the Golden age Torch and Sub-mariner to ignite Marvel Comics 1.

Sorta of like the The Alex Ross Marvels in 1994. Speaking of which I think Marvel 1 took back the Spot  Around that time because of a uber High grade at Sotheby’s. Also that story line boosted its appeal.

I guess in 1982 people actually cared about The Spectre, crazy to see MFC 52 and 53 on there!

Granted it also says Whiz Comics #1...so it's relative.

Totally, I'm a huge fan of The Spectre, Dr. Fate, and The Sandman, I'm still surprised to see them on there.

No surprise about SC4 of Whiz2 either. That's a given!

Anything's possible, but times have changed and Spider-man is just a global pop culture icon. I'm sure everyone around the world knows who or has heard of Spider-man.  Fantastic Four on the other hand, not so much.  I would be shocked if FF #1 would overtake AF #15.

you can get a triple-play with only one man on?
