The cover is different for an EC, but I find myself being intrigued by it - what do you all think of this cover (image from GCD)? A very ominous cover, subverting American values at a time when to do so was practically a death sentence professionally. And, in hindsight after reading the story, it's one of the most nightmarish issues EC ever released. sacentaur, Black_Adam and porcupine48

It's a creep-out story, to be sure -- the adults heckling the kids don't realize that they're not just "playing" funeral. The kid lowermost on the cover is the only one that doesn't work for me -- Craig drew him sort of like a "tweenager." Larryw7
Readcomix
That VOH 33 cover has always creeped me out! I made a lighter-side-of-EC acquisition (trade) today, with everyone's favorite Human Torch parody. IDW published an Graham Ingels artist edition where you can see his original art, and I believe this cover is included. Jayman
KirbyJack
That cover has made the book the more desired of the two Haunt Of Fear 17s. I kept the wrong one, apparently! 1950's war comics and SAKI

SAKI
Totally agree newshane. No doubt, This is my favorite EC cover and one of my grails. I believe still underrated! 1950's war comics and newshane
Popular Post Robot Man
A real underappreciated classic that has yet to really break out. ECs really get over looked some times when compared to their other pch counter parts. Maybe because they were saved and appear to be around in all grades. In my humble opinion, the best of the best, book for book. Now, everyone is mooning over this classic Ghastly cover. But those in the "know" know to actually look inside... One of the best EC horror stories (also by Ghastly) lurks inside. If you haven't read it and like horror at it's creepiest, check out "Horror we?, How's Bayou?". Man, just look at that splash. On par or maybe even better than the cover... Raze, newshane, Larryw7 and 2 others

Imagine my surprise to find this old fountain pen signature at the bottom of the last story... Hard to imagine in this day and age that people don’t even open up a nice book like this to grade and sell it. Well, his loss is my gain. Can’t say I have ever seen or heard of this gentleman’s signature on an EC I once bought an Adventure 29 on eBay. It was a nice copy, and got even better when I opened it up and saw an unnoticed (by the seller) Flessel sig! A year or two later I opened it up again and saw Vin Sullivan's sig in the margin! Wonder what else I will see next time I take it out of the Mylar. So much Ghastly detail is hard to focus on. Besides the color adds the "mood" to this one. (Not mine by the way, swiped from the internet) This is one of those Marie Severin hand colored editions I believe. Flies right in the face of the squeaky-clean, wholesome image of 1950's America that we usually see.
