Cool book.  Don't recall seeing it before.

So, is he going to come to his senses and start being a Commie or come to his senses and stop being a Commie? hm

He's just pretending in order to infiltrate the group.

Point Five's copy is very nice!

Well, I bought this one raw (above) as a 9.2 and it came back as ...

Many thanks again to the kindly boardie who made this deal possible. :foryou:

Recently stumbled on this site, which provides scans of the whole Treasure Chest "This Godless Communism" series https://www.historyonthenet.com/authentichistory/1946-1960/4-cwhomefront/7-comics/tcgodless/This_Godless_Communism_1961.html

I hadn't read the whole series before.  Reed Crandall does an excellent job with the art, but the scripts are uneven.  The opening story on Communists taking over the U.S. isn't nearly as good, and much less plausible, than the scenario in Is This Tomorrow, although, granted, the Treasure Chest issue had fewer pages to tell the story.

I thought that too much of the dialog makes the various Soviet Communists too self-consciously evil.  I don't think they thought of themselves that way or would have been likely to say many of things these stories have them saying.

There are some other historical bobbles, as in having Marx write Capital in what appears to be a dilapidated garret somewhere, rather than in the readings rooms of the British Museum. The origins of the famine in the Ukraine also appear inaccurate to me.

I was surprised that in a series published in 1961, there is only one brief reference to China and none to Mao.

Still, well worth reading, if you haven't already.

I think this book is a tough one.  At any rate, I hadn't been able to land a copy before.  Unlike the other similar book from the same publisher (Two Faces of Communism) this one ppears to lack an entry on GCD. hm

So another decade long hunt ends with the acquisition of a virtually unique ashcan for the publication of the Anti-Communist Cold War comic entitled the Red Iceberg from 1960. This is ONE of only TWO known copies to surface of this miniature Black and White comic. The colour full sized publication that I suspect was published afterwards is abundant with hundreds of copies extant.

This acquisition essentially enables me to  complete the Catechetical Guild B & W ashcans/advance copies of Blood is the Harvest, If the Devil Would Talk, Confidential (Is This Tomorrow advance copy) and finally, The Red Iceberg

ENTIRE INTERIOR

Unique black and white copy of This Is America just in. :cloud9:

This is America by Joseph W. Musial (1952) was planned as a promotional giveaway by Edu-Graph Productions.

Several copies have surfaced that were published in blue ink and a color version as well. This copy is in Black and White and the only one I am aware of.

This is America tells the story of a young woman, Sonja, who escapes to America from a totalitarian state. Once in America, she is given a tour of Washington, D.C. and in the process, learns about the freedoms now available to her as an American. 12 pages, 7-in. x 10-in.
