Ain’t that the usual sentiment lol. Always sellers remorse when one of these mega keys was sold 5-10 years or more ago! Crazy how much these can change over time 🤯.

I know...it sold for I believe $11,900... should have kept it, but I had another copy and figured, that it was still good since I had another.

but I do not understand the CGC policy on trimming of these individual pages. First of all, your page doesn’t even look trimmed to begin with. Second, it would seem to me that ALL single pages had to have been trimmed one way or another in the process of removal from the book.  Isn’t any cutting of paper considered trimming?

Totally agree with you in terms of CGC's apparent inconsistency here with regards to Trimming for individual single pages.  (thumbsu

Especially when the trim on the Universal Batman 1 page cuts right into the storyline and the word ballons, whereas the soc-called Trimmed Cap 1 page does not.  ???

Then again, maybe it's just due to a change in CGC's policy in the interim, as the Cap page was graded in September 2019 while the Batman page was graded in December 2019.

I think the highest offer that 4.0 received when it was not up for auction was 100-101K and it wasn't accepted.  I'm agreeing with you that based on recent sales it should go higher, but I'm going to vote that it stays right around 100K and that's if it breaks the reserve (and whatever that is set at, who knows).

Here's a moderately restored lower grade copy going in C-link's summer featured auction. Where would a copy like this finish? Over $30K, $40K? https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FPREVIEW.ASP%3Fcode%3D2020aug%23Item_1410943&id=1410943&itemType=0

I’m not as familiar with restored copy value. This is a nice book though.

Cap #1 CGC 4.0 on Comic Link:

LINK

With a 0.5 missing 4 wraps going for $39,500 and a 2.5 going for $86,000 you’ve got to think this will easily eclipse $100,000.

Predictions?

Up to 80K now with plenty of time left.

Looks like consignors are trying to tread carefully here by starting to put Reserves on some of their books in this current environment, as I also notice the same thing with the CGC 9.8 graded copy of TMNT #1 which is another high dollar value book.  hm

Comiclink doesn't have a BP so 86K is the final

Actually they do and have since end of last year. If you pay within 7 days they waive the 3% bp. Ow it is not just for cc anymore

Up to 95K with 4+ days left and hasn’t even cracked the reserve.

Has Cap #1 reclaimed its spot as the No. 1 Marvel comic in our hobby?

It has shown signs of life, hasn’t it?

If hasn’t taken back the crown yet, I suspect it will in the coming years.

It’s the “Action Comics #1 of Marvel Comics.”

Got to go with Marvel Comics #1 as the head aka Action 1 of the Marvel world still right?

It’s flip-flopped over the years.

I suspect Marvel #1 would be the choice for many collectors, understandably so. Birth of the DC Universe vs. Birth of the Marvel Universe.

But in the long-run, I do think it will go back to Cap #1, if it hasn’t already.

Probably. For now, maybe for always. But so far not for its characters so much as the beginning of the Marvel world. I think Cap holds greater appeal to a broader spectrum of people, but Marvel Comics 1 is the beginning of a dynasty

HEY @Wayne-Tec, you musta hit the enter key a nanosecond before me

We’ve seen this, historically speaking, with FF #1 vs. AF #15.

Popular character won out, and AF #15, for as immortal as it is, doesn’t have the historical historical significance of Cap #1.

Cap #1 has (or will eventually again) surpass Marvel #1 with greater ease than Tec #27 will over Action #1–but that too will come, I suspect, in the future.
