A Cover So Nice, It Was Published Twice !!!!

35 posts in this topic

Spidey vs. The Green Goblin by Patrick Scherberger.

This cover was originally published for the French Trade Paperback in 2012.

The image was recently reused as the cover to Spider-Man Spectacular # 1 in the USA.

Cheers!

Anyone else own a cover published more than once?

Let's see those classic covers.

I've had covers get re-used as trading cards as well as for the collected editions (TPB)... as well as for licensed items like T-Shirts.

I've also had interior splash pages end up as covers (usually variant covers for 2nd printings of the book it appeared it) a few times too.

More fun for me is I had one of my commissions end up used as a published cover.

I've got a splash that was used for a second print cover. A clerk at my LCS told me that it had been used for the hardback or TPB edition of the book as well, but if it has, I cannot find it.

Sorry, got distracted. The Spidey and Vampi covers very nice as well!

AKA Rick, what commission made the cut as a cover?

Here's the commission by Nick Bradshaw of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer VS Vampirella" that I requested, which ended up becoming a cover three years later for a parody "Vampirella vs Fluffy the Vampire Killer"

Here's a link to the image and published cover:

Also have this piece by Lee/Williams/Chiodo - it was created to accompany the sale of the complete interiors of X-Men vol. 2 #1 at Sotheby's and then used as Marvel Press Poster #108 (titled "Grounded"). It was also later used as the cover for both the 2nd printing of the 1995 first edition of the X-Men: Mutant Genesis trade paperback as well as the 2002 second edition.

Cool thread. I will happily play along!

This van Sciver Green Lantern cover was absolutely everywhere for awhile. Attached all the additional images to my CAF. It was a TPB Cover, an Absolute cover, a poster, and then the cover for two different reprint/special type comics. Also, got it on EBAY in 2007 at a great price!!

A few more from my collection. Both were regular monthly covers and later on republished as the TPB covers:

Secret Six / Batman cover by Cliff Chiang

Love when things are published multiple times. For me, off the top of my head, the Warrior 2 (first miracleman cover) by Garry Leach was published in Britain in 1982 then just this year as the back cover to the 1st TPB. My Kraven's Last Hunt TPB painted cover by Mike Zeck from 1989 was republished as the back cover to the most recent TPB from 2013. And then I have several covers that were used for multiple purposes - from T-shirts to statues, etc. These include the cover to Infinity Gauntlet #3 by George Perez, the cover to Hulk 105 by Marie Severin, my Wrightson Frankenstein Plate, etc. Great topic!

That Ultron cover is fantastic!

Note quite the same thing, but I was reading the morning funnies when I was surprised that the Bizarro that ran was one that I had the original to

my original on my CAF

today's comic (scroll down to Wednesday)

of course I find out that he is on vacation and running old strips. What I don't understand is, my strip is slightly different from the one shown online (cats are slightly different, as well as some items in the collection). The widescreen view (with the chair) is also surprising since my original only has the main square.

Anyone know for sure why that is the case? Is the current version just digital?

Here's my example. Original cover art to Amazing Heroes #36 starring Infinity Inc by Machlan & Ordway. Used again as promo art and used again as a splash in an annual.
