Although it still made money in a massively singular box office weekend for Endgame, not sure it is a win being compared to Tomb Raider.

After a decent opening weekend this gained no traction and ultimately got crushed by the MCU one-two combo; given the critical love and glowing Cinemascore, the final #'s on this have to be seen as disappointing. will be lucky to do a mediocre 2.5x opening weekend in the US and even lower internationally.

Shazam at 3.5X production budget with such an obscure character released so poorly says a lot for the quality of this film.

One of my personal favorite scenes is the first moment Asher Angel enters from stage left in front of the Pawn Shop, his look reminded me of a young Tommy Rettig with an instant likeability to the character of Billy Batson.  I loved how Billy's first spoken words on screen are "Holy Moley."  :applause:

I did enjoy it. I thought it was much better than Aquaman. However, can’t say I was blown away. And I understand this is the starting point for the character in the DCU. I’m sure his full potential/power will be realized in the next movie. I did get what I wanted, an empty theater. There were less than a dozen people at the evening showing.

using Deadline's formula and back of the envelope calculations, this will barely show a profit.  unlike Into the Spider-Verse, which had similar #'s, there won't be any globe hopping picking up statuary at awards season for this one to create momentum for the sequel.  :sorry:

Whatever this movie (or any movie) makes has no affect on me. I only care if the movie is good. I enjoyed it and I guess it was a critical success as well.
