Action #360 is simply an awesome catch, congrats! :applause:I did just check Pedigreecomics and my crystal ball (or male intuition ) tells me that first you won Action #374 on Pedigreecomics, and then you got Doug to help you with #360 hm Never mind, and amazing to see both books with such perfect cover alignment!

I know many collectors think that we'll one day be able to take a bath in late silver age and especially bronze books, and Census has increased somewhat regarding my Conan 9.8 Barry Smith books, but still there're far from enough to fill a tub. Lately, checking Census for Astonishing Tales and seeing Census for your Action #360 and #374 I'm starting to wonder how much we're going to bathe in such books in the future...  At least that kind of water has really been dripping slowly the last 20 years 2c

Thanks, your crystal ball and intuition are both correct sir! I never checked Pedigree Comics much in the past, as I thought they focused mainly on Marvel. I happened to stumble by just in time for Action #374. Who knows what I've missed out on in the past. (shrug) Doug was easy to work with, very prompt. :golfclap: I think I like the extended time auction format better, where a bid within the last three minutes increases the time by an addition three minutes, preventing snipping.

Your recent acquisitions prompted me to reach out to Doug. :foryou:

As for this so called tub of silver and bronze, I concur with you. I do recall when I first started collecting CGC in 2006 that any 9.8 with white pages prior to 1975 was considered a freak. I used to use GPA, and I also recall seeing a lot of my Action examples go for some astounding prices in the early 2000's. However, the quality of White Pages and perfect centering is only a few drips of the tub water you speak of.

While I'm looking back, here are the raw books I sent to Sarasota in 2017.

sig.jpg

This first batch was actually sent in December and arrived at my doorstep on January 7th, a great way to start the collecting year.

This Batman #568 came back a 9.6 the first time, I respectfully disagreed, cracked it out and sent it again.

Dropped this sub off in July at Denver Comic Con, July was big comic month for me.

Very impressive :whatthe: - I guess you expected all books to get a 9.8 grade - and you were right, even though you had to re-sub one book! (worship)

Thank you, but I did conveniently leave out a few books I submitted this year. Time to fess up. :frown:

My second submission arrived about a week or so after I received my first submission back. It was a disaster so to say, but it was a learning experience and a right of passage.

P1020176-horz.jpg.83bcc5f9e597820ed83042befea5d9a7.jpg

These are three books that I would not send back in hopes of upgrading.

The Detective is a neat Anniversary issue that I would like to have in a 9.8 holder, I just need a copy with a little less "spine stress." I cracked it, read it's WHITE Pages, enjoyed the art and story and put it back in my library.

The Vengeance of Bane II was a wall book in mylar from a comic shop that had just come into a large collection, of which I picked out several books, some of them came back to me in 9.8 holders. This was a good example of always going with your fist instinct, when I looked at this book for the fist time out of it's sleeve, I wrote down 9.6. There is a printing smudge on the back cover, I cracked it's holder but left it intact in the inner well, it still displays nicely!

The Batman #635 is a book I bought new from my LCS in 2005. I got a bit lost in the hype, because it is the first revelation of Jason Todd as Red Hood. This is a book that is all over eBay in 9.8 for $300 plus dollars. There is some spine stress, I cracked it out and put it back where it belongs, with my other Batman books I bought from my LCS.

i  feel for you and i am so glad to be completely happy with low grade goodness , but i can understand the allure of a CGC 9.8 !!

Thank you, but it's alright. This might sound surprising, especially after reading my most recent posts, but not every book I have in collection has to be a 9.8. If I collected Action Comics from the 1950s, 8.0 to 9.0 would be nothing to sneeze at! Some of my favorite pieces are books like the Vampirellas you mentioned in a previous post.
